Initially we were dubious about Gunters' but thought we'd give it a try for the first night as it was convenient to a relative's house. However on arrival, very late - past midnight (having warned them that our flight was delayed) we were very warmly greeted by "Merci". Our room was very clean and bright and the bathroom (wetroom) was also very clean. The airconditioning worked, we had tea making facility, drinking water, and lovely thick white towels.
Breakfast was very basic - just tea/coffee and toast, but that was sufficient, as, in KK, one goes out to coffee shops for one's morning meal so that first cup of tea in the bar area, surrounded by tropical palms, birds and bees was very pleasant indeed.
So we decided to stay on at Gunter's for the duration of our trip - 17 days. Room service was available as and when we needed it. The rest of the staff were equally friendly and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. The gate was shut at about 10.30 pm each night but the staff were quite happy to be summoned if we were going to be late back.
We did not eat in the restaurant but that was only because we had many friends and relatives to dine with.
Transportation could be an issue but there are busstops nearby and we also saw a bus stop right outside the gate so how more convenient is that?? Taxis are not that expensive in KK either.
We found the interior deco rather kitcsh and a bit OTT but in a fun and quirky way.
All in all a very pleasant stay and would do so again! Thanks, Gunters!
