i am not malay. with the exception of Hafiz at the reception desk, i was treated like an alien from out of space. i was extremely uncomfortable for the three days i stayed in this hotel. i think i was the only foreigner booked into the hotel because all other guests appeared to be malay. this is bad because malays will accept anything, so the hotel has strange policies and practices. for instance, the designated smoking area is directly in front of the elevators on every floor. so this means that in order to get to your room, you must walk through and breathe in second hand cigarette smoke because there is no other route to your room. when i complained about this, i was treated like someone strange because malays will not complain about such an idiotic policy. they just accept it. i called the cafe to try to order food. whoever answered did not understand english and hung up on me. when i tried again, they would not pick up. so i went to cafe to order food. i ordered a ceaser's salad with cajun chicken. it was not a ceaser's salad and had bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. the dressing was also something pink colored, but not made from anchovies. the chicken had no cajun spices and was just plainly cooked pieces of chicken. i didn't even bother to complain. nobody except Hafiz tried to speak or understand english. i tried to swim in the pool. when i went down there was malay music blasted from loud speakers. also, tables and chairs were set up next to the pool and i guess the people sitting in these chairs and eating would be able to watch the people swimming as their entertainment. it was a horrible three days. the only good thing in this hotel the receptionist named Hafiz. he was very friendly and tried to help me as much as he could.
