When I arrived, it really looked kinda old and dodgy from the outside! However, it actually is fairly decent inside! Of course it isn't any close to a 3-Star hotel even but the room was clean and beddings and towels were sufficient. The toilet looked old but otherwise clean and everything functioned. No complains from me. Parking is the biggest issue, especially in the day, because of the university across the road. After office hours there are ample parking available. It's RM4 per day and you would need to get the parking ticket from the convenience store or Salim (mamak) restaurant across the road. Also available in 30 mins/hourly coupons. There are several kopitiam nearby, probably about 300m walk but all within walking distance. The service and front desk is good in my opinion, perhaps only some miscommunication for some because they are locals and you'd most likely need to speak Malay. Basic amenities available in the room. Not sound proof. Good luck if you have loud neighbours.

booked a room for 3 and got a queen + single bed. due to peak season, we managed to book a room but at holiday rates. well, when we arrived, the picture actually looked newer and better than the actual hotel itself. it is an old building, refurbished into a hotel. however, it is clean and has all basic necessities. The aircond in our room seemed a little old and may need to be serviced. although it took some time to cool the room, but it was cold enough later. tv reception is bad. however, it is within walking distance (5 minutes) from popular eateries. there is a famous legendary 'lao shu fen' shop right opposite which opened only at night, and down the road there is a famous tau fu fah shop. which is worth the wait if the queue is not too long. overall, it was a fine stay. may try a different hotel next time unless it is a budget trip or if the hotel offers good promotion. oh and,our doorbell rang at 1am right before i went to bed. went to check, but didn't see a thing. they should at least put a peeping hole to allow guests to see who is at the door for better security.

Sakura Hotel offers cosy rooms in the heart of Ipoh, with a proper WiFi! The staff was of the nicest, and gave us amazing advices to visit & eat in town. We were even taken for a day tour by one of the host to visit Ipoh and surroundings. We've rarely received so careful attention by a hotel staff, it really made our trip in Ipoh both interesting and unique. I'd recommand this hotel to anyone willing to travel in Ipoh !

Just a decent place for a night and strategically located. At night, this place is a little dodgy. Lack car park for customers, so we risked getting fined for not displaying parking tickets. We were not reminded about this and almost got fined the day we were about to check out. Rm50 deposit upon checking in and had to present the receipt as a proof upon checking out to get back your deposit. I almost lost my receipt and they showed no sympathy and no sign of returning my deposit. Even joked about it if i lost the receipt, the rm50 can be contributed to the hotel, while i was searching all over for the receipt. When i finally found the receipt and presented the crumpled receipt only then they returned my rm50. Checking out took some time, as they had to get someone to check on the room. So had to wait even after i returned my receipt for the green light to get my rm50 back. Such a small matter shouldn't have wasted so much time during check out. Felt like i was treated like a criminal upon checking out.
