For the price, worth every penny! GOOD STUFF: 1. Private pool where families can enjoy 24H water activities with privacy especially if you have daughters/female companion. At night the pool is automatically lighted once you get into it. Water not heated though. 2. Large resort area surrounded by nature. Best place for a weekend getaway or a digital detox. Around you can get close and personal with palm tree plantations. Beware of mosquitos. There's a jogging route/bicycle lane that takes you through the plantation. 3. Gym Not much crowded during weekdays and the management didnt include this on Booking.com nor Agoda. You have to search for it. State-of-the-art treadmill and bicycle to be tried. Inside the gym supplied towels and water dispenser. 4. For Amani Villa, huge washroom but small toilet. Bathtub overlooking some greeneries without any curtain to cover floor to ceiling glass. 5. 2 card keys for a room (one for each adult I guess) THE NOT-SO-GOOD-STUFF 1. Only if you book with their own website breakfast is included in the price. Both Booking and Agoda don't have the options to pick a room with breakfast. On-site purchase costs RM68/person. But if you include that into the room price, you will get the price of the official website. 2. If the occupancy is low, breakfast won't be buffet but a la cartè. We went during weekday with several other families around at that time. And the menu is the same as the onr for Room Service, plus breakfast menu of Nasi Lemak/Mee goreng/bread. Too expensive for RM68 if you ask me. 3. Express coffee machine is only provide d with 2 cups (Dolche Gusto style). And I cannot see how we can get more of them. Not given during the breakfast not included inside Room Service menu. And each cup can only be used once. *If you plan to bring the whole extended family, take the Bungalow and take up their offer of 8D7N stay for just RM3999.

My husband and I visited Mangala for 2 nights last weekend. To be honest we had mixed feelings about going as we did read some poor reviews but we decided to give it a go. So glad we did! It is an amazingly relaxing place. We stayed in a Vana villa with private pool. The room was amazing.....very clean, outdoor bath and shower was so good. The resort is under new management and we found the service could not be faulted. Everyone could not do enough for us. So please anyone who reads the negative reviews please give Mangala another chance as the new management and new team of employees are amazing. So happy we went there.....we had an amazing time.

I am writing here because I have emailed the resort 1 week back to check if they could reimbursed me on my complementary dinner but no reply until today. We booked the 3 days 2 nights nature escape with 1 complementary dinner. We checked with the restaurant on how to claim it, they told us that we could just order via room service, but unfortunately the hotel didn’t reimburse nor subsidy our dinner. Our 2 nights stay with meals included was totalled up to RM2,054. Spent 2 nights here at Vanna forest. Lovely place I wouldn’t lie, but horrible experience. During my first day of stay, everything was almost perfect. Check in was smooth and easy. We requested for the most scheduled villa, hoping to stay away from any crowd or disturbance from the outer world and the corner villa was given to us which we are very grateful for. Our villa was beyond beautiful and it’s huge. We had a big pool, beautiful garden, spacious living room, powder room and outdoor bath. With that being said, there were a couple of things that could have been better. Front porch and pool aren’t that well maintained, it felt like it hasn’t been cleaned for more than a week. There were leaves almost everywhere, but it’s totally understandable as we are surrounded by lots of greens. Next, the powder room was huge as well and again we were so amazed but sadly there were lizard droplets all over the sink area. There were stains on the towel and on the toilet bowl. We had to spend time cleaning up toilet bowl to ensure that is clean. Outdoor bathtub was slightly dirty as well. With all these, it made us wonder if they actually cleaned and prepared the villa before us checking in. We didn’t make a big scene out of these because we totally understand that we are surrounded by nature, but it will still be awesome if the villa was cleaned before passing us the keys as both of us are paying close to RM900/ night. We had room service on the first night, ordered mee goreng, stir fry veggie and vegetarian wok fried glass noodles. GLASS NOODLES WAS HORRIBLE AND TASTELESS. The total bill was RM93. What stood out during dinner was when the restaurant waiter came to deliver our food, my partner asked if do we pay now or will these be charged to our room. The restaurant staff replied that it will be charged to our room and indirectly hinted for a tip by saying saying “Kalau nak bagi tip saya pun Boleh”. We happily tipped him RM10 and he left. During our second day, we enjoyed the whole day out in the pool. It was really peaceful and we enjoyed ourselves so much! We ordered fruits platter in the evening and the same restaurant staff delivered it to our room and we tipped him RM5. When the sky was getting dark, we decided to enjoy the outdoor bathtub. This is when things started to get really creepy at 7:30pm. When we were both quietly chilling in the bathtub, we started hearing distant footsteps. We thought it was just someone walking pass the pathway. Then, the footsteps getting closer and closer, that person was no longer waking on the pathway but instead he was walking in between bushes as we could hear footsteps on dried leaves and someone brushing against the bushes. We knew that person was just standing right next to us, separated by the bathroom wall. He was walking around for few mins. We even heard him walking away for a moment to talk to his peers then came back around. We couldn’t take it as it was so creepy so we decided to cover ourselves and get out from the bathtub. Later at night, we had room service again. We had duck Ragout, beef burger, satay this time and the bill was RM121. WORST PASTA I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. WORST RM40 I have ever spent. I ordered duck ragout because I thought it’s going to be the original and common duck Ragu in tomato base that we are all familiar with, but the pasta that I had was the total opposite of what I expected. It was in cream base but it was fine by me as I love cream based pasta as well. What tick me off was the saltiness Of the pasta. It was so salty and it was not edible. I had 2 bites and I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to order another dish for myself. When the same restaurant staff that we had already tip him RM15 came to pass us my new meal, we shared our dissatisfaction with the pasta by telling him that it was too salty. Before he left the premise he had the audacity to request for tip, his exact words are “TAK DE TIP KE?” We told him we ran out of cash and sent him off. 10 minutes later, we had a call from the restaurant. It was the restaurant staff asking what’s wrong with the food again in an very unprofessional manner. My partner had to explain to him again. Then then staff asked my partner to repeat himself again. My partner had to explain himself the 3rd time again and suggested to let the chef try it in hope that they would understand it better. I mean how hard is it to understand that the pasta was salty. Then the staff replied that the chef has tried it and he didn’t think there was any issue with it. My partner didn’t make a big deal out of it and decided to end the call. Seriously, what is the point of calling us and asking us to repeat ourselves so many times when the Chef can’t accept constructive feedbacks? On our last day, we didn’t even bother having our complimentary breakfast. Before leaving, we walked around villa to confirm the footsteps that we heard the night before. If we are to walk on the pathway, the footsteps will be quite distant and we wouldn’t be able to hear it from the outdoor bathtub. Our findings conclude that the person was walking in the bushes right outside our villa where That specific pathway was blocked with plants so that no one would walk towards there. Again, we were creeped out and decided to leave as soon as we can. Upon checking out, we shared our entire experience with the front desk, no solutions nor proper explanations were given, but a 10% discount off on our next stay. Erm no thank you. Oh and before I forget, thank you to the housekeeping for supplying us mineral water bottles. Well to conclude, with RM2k+ for 2 nights, it wasn’t worth it at all. 5 stars resort, 1 star service. You can find way better deals elsewhere.

The private pool villa was just awesome, really gets you back to nature and takes you away from the hustle & bustle of the city. Our bellboy Shafiq was awesome! He gave a personal tour of the resort on the buggy and told us all so many facts about the place! and he has only been working there for 3 days! and part time too! He was one of the highlights of the stay.
