If your idea of the perfect hotel has top notch decorations and facilities, then forget this one.
If you are on a budget and a sound sleeper, love old style buildings, enjoy a bit of faded charm and can forgive the ancient bathroom facilities etc, then this will suit you. Super friendly staff, a sea view from the upper level looking out over the hotel's seafood restaurant (Ocean Green Restaurant) and hot and cold filtered water available on tap.
The rooms are about double the size of similar priced ones in Georgetown but you are a long walk from the action of Chulia St and Gurney Plaza (30 mins or so). Khan, the very helpful receptionist, can order Grab cabs for foreign visitors and they are very reasonably priced.
If you prefer a really quiet room then you need to look elsewhere - it is noisy here and some of the walls paper thin...
