I stayed at Elysee Hotel Residence for business in Mauritius. The property is very average. There is absolutely nothing special about the rooms--they are small and do not have much in the way of amenities. My TV didn't work and there is no wifi. The upshot is the location, on a quiet, beautiful stretch of Trou Beach near plenty of shops, restaurants and little beach clubs. I barely spent any time in my room. Wifi is only available downstairs in the restaurant/eating area. Breakfast starts late, after 7am, and is a simple breakfast with toast, fruit and coffee. The receptionist isn't always in. The credit card machine wasn't working for part of the time we were here so it was difficult to actually pay. Despite all of the little flaws in the hotel I found it to be actually quite charming and I liked it just fine. If you're a honeymooning couple looking for the resort treatment I would avoid this. Then again, if you kind of want to cheaply unplug and be off the grid for a while this isn't bad. It's a cheap room, basically. Doors use old keys. All that said I liked the place, though it's very different from how I usually travel.
