Reception, on check in the staff asked if we wanted 2 rooms!! Strange as our booking was for 1 room. We then needed to produce a wedding certificate. Its year 2020 not 1850..... checked into room 114 on the first floor - Ibis Hotel Oujda - I have stayed in many Ibis hotels in Morocco and all over Europe, and they have generally been very good, you know what you get. This Ibis is very very poor. Bedroom had not been cleaned properly, soap and shampoo packets had been used and just left, toilet paper was the cheapest and poorest you can find in Morocco, no HOT WATER, it was sort of warm for a few moments, then just got colder !! TV remote control needed new batteries or replacing. Window did not open enough to get fresh air inside. Smell was horrible. We had a birthday party to go to, so just left the window open and went out. The room and the whole hotel smelt really bad, a mixture of bad body odour, cigarettes, dust and stale air. The walk from the lift to the room was very dirty, I took a video, I don't think it had been cleaned in months. Plenty of staff around, all doing nothing. Breakfast was OK, 60 MAD per person, a big tray of food, the juice and coffee was very poor, had to ask for eggs and water, but was ok. Bar was closed, at 22.00, which is fine, managed to buy some water, 20 MAD for a large bottle. Which is fine. Ibis Staff smoking Cigarettes at their desk in the reception area at breakfast time. No staff to be seen when we checked out!! So I just waited and then left the key card and left, I wanted to speak to someone really, however, needed to leave Oujda. An old shabby hotel, that needs a good clean. Pay the extra and stay over the road at the Atlas Terminus. I wish we had. You also have to pay for parking. It was a real shame as I always rely on Ibis....... let down big time on this trip. Richard and Noura Dear PS in the Ibis and Oujda there is no COVID-19 according to the people, as only 10% of people are wearing masks and if they are, it is under their chin !!!

Very unhappy with both the hotel and Expedia. Booked breakfast with deal and this is evident on my confirmation. One first day at the hotel I was stopped midway through breakfast an told that I had to pay. When I said breakfast was included I was basically told to leave the table and go to get the confirmation from the room!! I was in utter shock. I produced the confirmation but still the hotel were disputing as this was not confirmed from their side. I stated that was between them and the tour operator. I had to contact Expedia who then spoke to the hotel and confirmed. After apologising I was then given a lovely room with fantastic view. I then thought my holiday can begin..... Day 2 in the morning during breakfast I was approached by a member of staff who I had not seen before. He told me that breakfast was not included and that I would have to pay. For a moment I thought this was deja vu! The way this gentleman spoke to me was crass and rude that I noticed other holidaymakers looking at me. I felt soo embarrassed. I called my daughter in london as I got very irate and could not believe that my confirmation was not scanned yesterday. Again Expedia were called and spoke to the hotel but there was a language barrier so nothing was done. I went back upstairs to get the confirmation during which my daughter had to actually email the confirmation to the hotel. This is shocking and I am only into day 2 of my trip. I am actually preparing myself to be approached by yet another member of staff in day 3! As this matter has been sorted (for now) I would really appreciate if staff members can show a little empathy before making the final call and ruling out that that the holiday maker is in the wrong. Procedures need to be amended.

Reception was very welcoming and helpfull. We got a room with a big terrace and beautiful views although we had booked a normal room, with no fuss and for little extra charge. Restaurant on site very good and also extremely nice people who work there.

For the last couple of days of days I visited the hotel the hotel was very welcoming and good over all the staff are great starting from the two gentlemans in the reception I didn't have any problems communicating and I hope the next time it will be upgraded as I was told
