Sure, bus terminals aren't generally the nicest of places but somehow Asuncion's tends to be much less sleazy than most and without hustlers in my experience. So while the location might not suit everybody, there was no stress making my long distance bus departure (the traffic is intense). From the B&B it was an entertaining local bus ride (2300G) via a bustling market to the centre (about 30mins) and in the other direction about 20 mins to get to Sol shopping centre area. The bus rides are a hoot so you would miss out on this if you stayed in the centre! Los Jazmines is a family home with the upstairs rooms used by guests. Blanco room was huge with an equally large bathroom and private patio. The bed was lovely and firm. Breakfast was an excellent spread - fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cake, cheese, ham, a selection of bread and fresh juice. The staff were very kind. While it's a little annoying getting buzzed in and out every time, you know it's very secure. Apart from some guys selling tasty asados (kebabs) on the corner friday and saturday nights, there really aren't any eating options close by. Staff are happy to order take-away if needed.
