Papillon Hotel

Perfect location to stay when visiting the missions. Large room with quiet air con & comfy beds. Good bathroom & the first shower taps in Paraguay that I found straight forward to use. Rooms in blocks motel style. A nice swimming pool for a pleasant hour or so after a lot of driving, though maybe apply the insect repellent late afternoon An interesting bar display of dozens of yerba matte brands (worth checking out the small nearby yerba mate display museum near the town sign for Bella Vista where you might pick up some free samples). Very good evening buffet parilla restaurant with a 7.30 start gives you the right amount of time to eat before heading back to the evening light show at the Trinidad Mission (Friday through Sunday). Friendly bar & restaurant staff all followed through with a good breakfast buffet Wifi a bit hit & miss in the room so worth getting a drink in the bar before online noodling

This is a good hotel with a restaurant. The rooms are motel style spread out over the gardens. Nice location and layout. Comfortable rooms. Good air conditioning and fans. Gym in a building in the gardens. Wi-fi only works in main building and hardly at all in the bedrooms. They need booster routers. PC available in the main building. I had my laundry done speedily and at a keen price. Breakfast buffet good. Evening buffet good too with lots of choice, meat and salads, hot and cold and different each day I was there.

the hotel is close to the Trinidad missions, far from Encarnacion. you can take a taxi from Encarnacion or take the bus. the hotel entrance is on Rt 6. the food is amazing if you go for the parrillada (rodizzo) starting 7:30p-10p. or the restaurant menu all day long. everything is good. the service pretty slow. but that's the way in Paraguay. this hotel is super clean, super chic. the hotel has multi-language TV channels.

We recently stayed three nights at the Papillon while visiting the Jesuit-Guarani missions in nearby Trinidad and Jesús. Bella Vista is a small town, but the Papillon is obviously the go-to restaurant for the entire surrounding area, which is among the most prosperous in Paraguay, and the go-to hotel for anyone visiting the missions or wanting a quiet vacation in the countryside. With good reason. It's an excellently managed hotel, with high caliber rooms in an attractive cluster of one and two story buildings, with well-kept grounds including a swimming pool. The restaurant has an ambitious, well-executed menu including a locally famous buffet (indeed, even the woman working at the Paraguayan consulate in Washington told me I had to stay at the Papillon and have the buffet). The staff is friendly and professional

This is a great little hotel in the countryside with beautiful surroundings in a quiet little town called Bella Vista. The personal and detailed "German" attention by the owners make sure that your stay will be great. The staff is very courteous and respectful, very well trained. The grounds are clean. The breakfast is decent and their lunch buffet is also good. One caveat is that the hotel is located right on the highway and you may hear trucks pummeling through there. So, pick a room that faces the backyard garden and you will be fine and also wake up to the birds singing!
