D' Downhill

We wanted a cheap place to sleep and not far from the place to view whalesharks so we booked this place. Cost us 1,300 Peso. I booked with my phone, forgot to click and extra click to see the details so didn't see the "shared bathroom". Normally I never book shared bathroom accommodation. The aircon worked well but wifi didn't work at night. Room has a table and 2 plastic chairs, 2 bottles of drinking water. I think they put other guests on the other floor as each time we used the bathroom, we didn't see anyone and felt like only 2 of us were on this floor. Bathroom has hot shower, old and basic with a shower curtain. The owner is great that she gave us every information we needed when we checked in. If she smiled a bit more, that would be perfect. The shared living area has nice wooden sofa and boiler, cups, dishes, bowls, spoons, dish washing liquid so it is nice that we can boil water for instant coffee. There's a large balcony where guests can sit and smoke which is nice. We walked downhill to eat at night. 200 Peso was enough for 2 to be full.

About a 10 minute walk downhill to the whalesharks (meaning uphill back to the hotel). Clean room and hot shower (shared bathroom ) but only 1 towel provided for the 2 of us. WiFi good enough for messaging and emails, not much else. Helpful staff for whalesharks and for onward travel. Not much to do around the area apart from seeing the whalesharks.

This guesthouse is a bit far from the SharkWhale watching point, because it is at the uphill area. you need to be fit to climb up the slope. Not suitable for old people. there are no drinking water provided in the guesthouse, but you can buy from drinking water dispenser right outside the guesthouse.
