Flotsam And Jetsam Hostel

Been staying multiple times at Flotsam, and I can say that they give you the simple, convenient, low key stay -- especially during weekdays. The volume of people during weekends are pretty big, so if you want to just have a quick peaceful getaway, do weekdays. Tried staying in the sharing AC Bedroom and the Kubo Hut and it was manageable. Breakfast is included. Shared bathroom and sinks are available and clean, as well as towels and blankets provided. Personal lockers provided for the shared rooms. Tried staying during March and Early -ber months in Kubo and the weather was okay and it was manageable, each bed has solo fans aside from the fans inside the Kubo itself. Location is a little bit far from the main places in San Juan but you can ride a tricycle or actually walk it if you're into walking. Front desk has been always been accommodating during my stays, you can leave your things in the reception (they provide lockers already) if you want to roam around after/before your check in/out. Food is pricey but you kinda pay for the name, ambiance, and the place itself so somehow reasonable. They are closed on Tuesdays. Overall, Floatsam is my to go place to stay in La Union.

Room - stayed at the Seaside View room. Well, it's facing the sea but most of the view is still blocked by trees. Room is clean and comfortable. The one I booked has a boho feel. Staff - friendly and very accomodating. Service - don't expect to be served your food or have someone bus your table, it's self-service. Don't expect someone to carry your bags or guide you to the rooms. Find it yourself, they'll give directions. Considering the fact that people came to La Union to Chill and Party, bartenders could have been available earlier than 3pm. No cocktail drinks served prior to that time. Food - No variety at all. Resto bar is self-service too. Now, let's talk about the PRICE..... for the size of the room, the bed, and the service....I could have booked for the price at a high end here. Food and drinks also pricey. I guess we are paying for the popularity of the place and the parties.

My family of four and my daughter in law's family of five had a north road trip and our first stop is grape picking in the morning which i thought is a big farm but a bit disappointed on seeing a backyard grape growing. in the evening, we scroll for our dinner and found that majority of the resto are NOT ACCESSIBLE for wheelchair user. We saw an accessible one but the smoke of the grill is too much for our two babies so my son & daughter in-law decided to go to flotsam & Jetsam. I loved the ambiance, I was mesmerized with the design at once, specifically the lanterns but felt so intimidated because it is SUPER IN ACCESSIBLE for wheelchair user. the walkway going to the order area is 3 to 4 inches high WITHOUT RAMP, going to our table is also a step. I saw tables from the entrance but according to my daughter in law, it's too far from the cash and ordering counter. Well the food is a bit pricey, i loved the red rice tho, i am not into white rice. I just noticed the chairs need replacement and i wanna know of they are disinfecting the chairs. and the tables considering the bean bags according to some reviews are untidy.. Well i can recommend the place for others to experience the not so usual resto ambiance BUT the accessibility should be addressed first. FYI, we already have BP 344 or Batas Pambansa 344 or in layman's term "ACCESSIBILITY LAW". The place is not compliant of the law.. Let's have a BARRIER FREE TOURISM Philippines Even with the hardship of inaccessibility, I dearly thank my son and daughter in law for letting me feel I BELONG.. i know the whole one week road trip will be out of my comfort zone

Paid about Php 5100 for a room for 3 persons. Super small room, too crowded for 3 persons, no basic provisions typically seen in hostels/B&B (like toiletries, slippers, etc). For the price, you can get a better room. You’ll pay for the “crowd” as this is a popular place for party-goers. Better option would be to rent somewhere else then just go here for the party

Stayed here for 10 days. Amazing, beautiful hostel right by the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The garden is cozy with all the lanterns and hammocks. I could warmly recommend this place for backpackers.
