We stayed here for a couple of nights before visiting other islands. This is no thrills basic accommodation for a cheap price. The staff are friendly and if you have any issues they will genuinely try to help. The room was clean and the mattress was comfortable. Though I would recommend bringing a travel pillow. The shower only had cold water and leaked all over the bathroom floor. The room has aircon though leaked the first night, and was subsequently fixed the next day. The WiFi worked though bit slow. The restaurant attached to the hotel had quite nice food and coffee. A big plus in hindsight as we really struggled to find food we like in Philippines! A taxi from airport to this hotel should be 350-500 peso. I suggest download an app called grab cab and use this it’s similar to Uber. I made mistake of getting a taxi from airport and they quoted 2,600 peso. We thought this was our only option. It was a 20 minute ride in the taxi. This hotel is ok if on a very tight budget, though the shower situation was very uncomfortable for us hence the 2 stars.

Pros: - Staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. Front desk, security, cleaning staff, everyone was pleasant and kind. - Location is convenient but also on a quiet street which is a perfect combo. - Water temperature and pressure were fine. (this is worth mentioning because lack of temp/pressure can be an issue with even 4-star Filipino hotels) Cons: - Bed is not a normal mattress but some sort of cheap, hard foam thing that is also low to the ground. - Apparently, the standard rate room does not have a window so you'll have to upgrade if you want a window - Towels are shockingly gray, frayed, and old. I would never offer such a towel to one of my guests. (note that this is a common issue with other hotels in the Philippines but these were especially bad) - All in all, the room in real life does not look nearly as nice as anything in the photos. It's a very small room with some basic, cheap-looking furniture and roughly finished touches (such as paint job being visibly poor in many places). I'm frankly perplexed by the current 4.0/5.0 rating this hotel has on TripAdvisor. It should be 3.5 Max compared to similar hotels in similar price range.

It was just my first time to be in this hotel. The staff were good and very pleasant while i was checking in. They're also very helpful. The room I was in was neat and clean. I just had a problem sleeping at night because the guests in the other rooms were very loud. They were talking at the hallway as if they own the place. I waited for someone from the staff to at least tell them to tone their voices down and mind the other guests who were already resting, but that didn't happen. I tried to sleep it off but I kept on waking up to their loud voices. It was already about 1130pm and as I was about to call the frontdesk, the loud guests went out and so finally I was able to sleep. Other than this, I think the hotel is good.

Manila's best kept secret! A boutique hotel located in the up and coming Poblacion district within walking distance to Makati, the city's financial district and fabulous shopping centers (Greenbelt and Glorietta) and Rockwell. The hotel offers great value for money. The service is superb with attention to detail. Cold air in the rooms when needed and warm showers. The Italian restaurant is excellent with reasonable prices. It is also a great place to meet friends and business associates given it central location in the capital and proximity to the Edsa main road. A cleaner is located next door to the hotel. These are among the reasons why my wife and I have repeatedly stayed at the hotel over the years (together and separately) when coming to the Philippines from the USA or France. We usually stay at the hotel for several weeks at a time. We plan to stay at the hotel again in 2020.

I have been staying at Durban several times in the last year, and recently for more than a month-long stay there. Excellent, clean and affordable hotel in Makati. Friendly and professional staff. In my experience the cosiest and homiest hotel in the area offering affordable rates. Some rooms do not have a strong wifi signal. Some windowless, so if it bothers you expressly ask for one with window. Often fully booked. So book far in advance. Farfalla, the adjacent Italian restaurant, offers breakfast and good Italian good at affordable prices. Farfalla is also a good working place. Quiet and strong wifi. Very good location. I will be back.
