Never having tried this hotel before, we opted to stay here for a night. Besides, we like the convenience of a free breakfast and the room rates are quite affordable. But despite its strategic location, comfy pillows (P50/extra piece), functioning water heater, refurbished bathroom, superb Essenso coffee and courteous staff, the hotel as a whole, does need a major top-to-bottom overhaul. Parking can also be a problem. Our stay was alright (or pwede na), but the experience was somewhat underwhelming.

what is it really? is it an inn? suites? hotel? don’t be fooled by its quite fotogenic features. they can be deceiving. what can this place offer aestethically? there’s a view of the plaza. but that’s basically it. it is rather antiquated and does not possess any old charm. you can even anticipate paranormal activities to happen anytime. the bed is super elevated. the airconditioner has seen better days and cannot sustain the coolness of the room. a pail and a dipper inside the bathroom await the guest who prefers not to use the shower, which by the way, is the only commendable thing because it heats up fast despite the molds growing around the tube. the staff was out of her post when we arrived so we waited for a few minutes before we got attended to. and the food? oh well, it is not something to talk about. even when your budget is quite tight, search somewhere newer, tidier and more comfortable.

The hotel has probably seen its better days. Rooms and hotel facilities are needing renovations. The plus side of staying at this hotel is its location. It is strategically located in the heart of the city and everything Dumaguete has to offer. One need to walk a couple of blocks to enjoy the seaside, food stalls, the famous sylvannas, Siliman University, church, market, etc. Also, the airport is just several-minute drive.

When our original hotel plans fell through, we were recommended to go to Plaza Maria Luisa Suites Inn, which had a more central location. Central is pretty relative term when it comes to a small city such as Dumaguete. The first thing that greeted us was an overpowering stench inside the lobby, which had faint notes of kitchen smell, old furniture with an "in your face" base of heavy damp odors. Desperate to find a place before nightfall, we accepted the offer of 1 double room + extra bed with breakfast. The hotel has seen better days and it shows on every floor; everything is in dire need of refurbishing, from the faded paint, the old cabinets and stuff strewn around the hallways, and the mismatched furniture. The staff are also in dire need of training. The missing directory on the room phone seems to point out that the staff don't want to be called. Requests went unanswered. And a complaint about the remote controls not working was met with condescension. We had a small emergency in the middle of the night and tried to call the front desk many times but no one answered. Worse, the elevator was closed for the night! This forced my brother to walk from the third floor down to the lobby level just to get any semblance of service. The only potential saving grace was the free breakfast. Not the best but at least it satisfied its basic requirement.

it is conveniently located. walking distance from the famous seaside boulevard, mc donalds, Dumaguete Cathedral, which is an old church you gotta take a pic, Campanario de Dumaguete, 7-11 store, Quezon park, and many more. It's not pricey and their staff were friendly.
