This is long but please read if you are considering this place: After a loooong drive from Manila (11 hrs total) we were hoping for warm and friendly smiles to greet us as we yearn for rest but no, the staff here were as cold as the weather! The Ifugao houses were as expected, it was actually nice, our hut looked new but we found the place filthy, the surroundings are not well-maintained. When we arrived, the tables below our hut were still dirty from previous guest use (?) and we arrived at 4PM! Our hut floor was also dusty. Mind you, we are not “maarte” travellers and we knew that this was in the mountains but I hope their staff could at least empty the trash bins around the vicinity every now and then since there are dogs and cats straying in the area and they like digging in the bins for food which actually makes more mess! We lost our take out food twice and we suspect that its either the dogs or the cats who got them :( The hut good for 12 was very spacious, we were a total of 7pax with 2 kids. What I didn’t like is that the bathroom is separted fr the hut. Overall, not happy with the stay. If service was better I could have given them a higher rating.

Loved the Traditional Nipa Huts and the unlimited coffee. The owner were extremely helpful and kind. Would be more convenient if free transportation service is provided since its away from the main road.

Stayed here with friends for a 3 day and 2 nights stay and it was really an amazing experience. Pro: 1.Traditional Nipa Huts for an authentic experience. (Involves climbing on a 5 step stairs to get to the Nipa Hut so maybe not for older members of the family.) 2. Closer to nature as you'll be surrounded by trees as you sleep. 3. Their staff are very, very accommodating. 4. They offer unlimited Sagada brewed coffee. 5. It's about 5 minutes away from the city center so it will just be you, your friends / family and nature. 6. They have hot showers. (But the bathrooms are separated from the Nipa Hut - about a few steps away. Each hut has a private bathroom) 7. Each nipa hut has a place you can have a bonfire - roast marshmallows or sausages. Con: 1. Distance from town is also a disadvantage if you prefer accessibility, like near stores and restaurants. When we visited, public transportation in Sagada is scarce. Tourists get by through walking, tour vans, and renting a vehicle for P250 / 300 (5-6 USD per way) 2. Limited food options - they only serve breakfast.

Why the low rating? It's because of the management's poor customer service. Before booking at agoda, I contacted the owner directly. She did not want to accommodate our booking because we will only stay for one night. She also said that there's no available room. I checked agoda and saw a room available. I booked it and it allowed us to stay for one night. Prior to our arrival, i've been communicating with the owner but she does not reply. I would need to send 3 sms before she replies. We've requested for breakfast to be prepared so we can eat upon arrival. But to our dismay, breakfast was not prepared when we arrived after 10hours of travel. We were traveling with seniors and a 1 year old baby. No apologies offered. She did not even greet us. The traditional hut was pleasant though linens are not that clean. Yes, there's a free flowing coffee but tasteless. Maybe, what we got was already diluted. Overall, the place (traditional hut amidst pine trees with a view of the terraces) was nice but the owner lacks customer service. Communication is very essential to a business. If the owner cannot reply to the messages / queries of guests, she should hire someone who would reply. Even in person, she's not interacting with guests. Location is also far from the main town. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage: Quiet/ Pine Trees Surrounding / Close to Sumaguing Cave (5 minutes walk) Disadvantage: Less food choices/ They don't have any restaurants in the area except for the nearby Bilza Lodge and Restaurant (the staff here are more approachable). We ate the following day here.

I was reading some of the other reviews and the negative ones are not accurate at all from my experience. I didn’t see any bugs in the private CR or the room the whole time, the temperature and bed was very comfortable and clean. We were in a bigger room than we booked the first night and weren’t charged any extra. The owners and workers were all very accomodating, they even invited us to their bonfire for food and drinks since they were celebrating a birthday our first night there. You can pay 300 extra for them to set up a fire for you (each nipa hit has its own fire pit and CR). Also there is free coffee available at almost any time that is very sarap. Of course if you don’t want to stay in an excellently constructed native nipa hut and want a modern looking place this might not be for you, but if you do this is a great experience and location!
