This house is located in the lovely hills about 10 mins. drive from Ponte da Barca, so still easy to go for a dinner to the town, yet stay nicely secluded in a quiet nature. Upon arrival, the landlord took us for a small tour through the manor, explaining the history of it and showing all the preserved original parts (black kitchen, wine press, tower foundations etc.) Everything is renovated to an absolute perfection with an attention to details. As the landlord´s family owned this manor for generations, he´s obviously proud of the building and it´s reflected in the efforts that must have been made to rebuild it in such spectacular way. Room was large, comfortable and splendid as rest of the manor. The bed in it used to belong to two Portuguese queens, there´s even a small museum (or rather a showcase) of their original belongings. Breakfast were rich, anything we asked for. Both the landlord and his wife were very nice all the time, he even kept on apologizing that there´s and ash in the pool (there was a huge forest fire raging quite close) although it was clearly impossible to do anything about it at the time. Maybe it is just for the opening season (the opened for business in May 2015), but the price was really surprising compared to the value the offer here. Luxurious stay with attentive hosts on a lovely place – you can hardly ask for more.
