Super friendly reception staff. Well stocked bar, plenty of loungers, exceptionally clean and great food options. The air conditioned apartments are really big although unsuitable for guests with mobility issues as all have steps up to them as far as I’m aware. Well stocked kitchen with kettle oven microwave utensils etc. Really quiet area , safe, clean location. Downsides are super uncomfortable sun loungers!!! Family friendly resort and perfect for a budget week in the sun.

As a young family we arrived at 12 am which hotel was aware as they took our payments when we arrived after 5 hours traveling thee reception was closed with a no explanation so we found out hour number for it to ring out so waiting 2 hour out side hotel we had to find another and pay the night as it was 3 in the morning tired from traveling the next day we return to the clube alvorferias to be told by receptionist its tottaly out of order on the hotels part and they will issue a refund for the night we payed for another hotel as its not our fault the staff was not able to to accommodate us our first night, so we wait two days for manger for a refund and to be told rudely we will be kicked out hotel if we don't accept they won't give us a refund so as a result we had to be quite and go without our money cause they threaten to kick us out which we know they can do this as the first night they wasn't there, so as a family or anyone from UK I wouldn't waste ur money or time the staff are Portuguese and very rude to English

We stayed here during one of the few weeks Portugal was on the green list and we got a really cheap deal so I can't complain but I wouldn't pay the normal price to stay here. Its very dated - like it's not had any update since 1980! Everywhere is tiled that dark brown terracota colour with scratched mahogony furniture and holes in the curtains. I can't quite explain how dull and depressing the reception area is but spending more than 2 mins in there would just stuck the life right out of you! Our apartment was huge and had 3 balconies but we didn't sit on them once as they just didn't feel nice our views were a choice of a motorway type bridge, a graffitied old empty flower bed or a busy road. The pool area is OK but annoyingly and despite several families pointing it out to them, they kept locking the gate to the ramp meaning you had to carry the pushchair down a steep flight of steps to get out. We did keep telling reception but they just said we could ask for it to be opened - that's fine on the way in but if you're on you're own you can't leave the baby at the pool while you walk to reception to ask them to let you out! Having said that I do understand why people have asked for the gate to be kept shut as the apartments are very open to the public. It doesn't really feel like a holiday complex lots of the apartments look privately owned and like permanent residences and there's no gates to stop cars coming in so literally anyone could be wandering around. Usually on holiday I would allow my eldest the freedom to walk to the bar or on site shop on her own but I wouldn't have done that here. The snack bar food was OK and pints of lager 3.5 Euros. We didn't even bother looking for the main restaurant as the whole place just lacked any atmosphere, this may be down to covid. We arrived at about 9.45pm and everything was completely closed. There was nowhere to get anything to eat the only thing on offer was a vending machine. Walk into Alvor is about 15 mins downhill but getting back up takes quite a bit longer and I guarantee your calves will be aching by day 3! Alvor itself is lovely. Theres a decent choice of bars and restaurants but everywhere closed at 10.30 while we were there due to covid. A point to make is that only a couple literally 1 or 2 opened at breakfast and a couple more at lunch again I'm not sure if this is all the time or just because of the pandemic. I would return to Alvor but I wouldn't stay at the Alvorferrias. Ive given in 3 stars but that's a bit generous really just down to the fact that it was so cheap.

Pro's: Very spacious, clean and well equipped apartment in a well looked after hotel with good size pool, pleased to find a spare foldable bed in the living room and fully working air con.. cleaned 3 times while we was there. Con's. I've never had a check in experience quite like it, we arrived early in the morning and told check in was 3.30 pm (was expecting this anyway as read other reviews) so we went for some food and a explore and came back 3.45, to find a long queue of people with rooms still not ready and no answer as to when they would be. So Its baking hot, people are tired and frustrated, there is not one chair to sit on and no answers or organisation going on whatsoever. Felt sorry for a couple in their 80's as we was all waiting a good hour and a half just to get to our rooms. I ended up going and sitting by the pool until my husband called me. -On another occasion i found the reception staff standoffish and unhelpful when i needed important advice on getting home. -The hotel is not as close to amenities as I thought, there is an onsite shop which closes really early.. i think around 7ish. You will find the nearest supermarket also closes early.. never had this anywhere I've gone before. -It got freezing some nights which is a shame as we like to sit out on the balcony and have a few drinks when the kids go to bed. Some nights it was so cold i had to get a thick blanket out. The beds are ok but the pillows aren't comfy. The bath is massive compared to usual ones. All in all for the price it was ok. Our favourite place to eat was called the yacht club, down by the marina. Stunning views, the afternoons went by so nice here, sat in the sun with drinks and gorgeous food, kids played on the little closed off beach bit in view of us. I also recommend slide and splash waterpark for a family day out, we all had so much fun here. There was hardly any queues and the price was 85euros for a family of 4. A taxi to get here is cheap too. A really nice holiday all in all. Not sure about whether I would return to this hotel but if i saw the deal i got again i may be tempted. Alvor itself is really nice my only regret is i forgot my driving license to rent a car ans explore more places nearby i definately recommend doing this as its only a small place and can get a bit boring.

We visited the Clube Alvorférias during the long weekend of October. As we knew we’d be arriving very late, we called in advance to check how to deal with the situation. The employee was cordial and found a solution to leave us the key to the apartment. On arrival we noticed that the room was clean and spacious but the bedding and the towels were a bit tattered and in fact had been sewed / darned / mended. The water boiler worked well but if two people shower twice in a day, it quickly run out of hot water. Because it was the long weekend there was no cleaning service to the apartment, meaning that the towels were never changed during our 3 night stay and remained damp from one day to the other. We then found a broken corkscrew in the kitchen and, as we needed it, we requested a useable one at the reception. They said they would have one brought to the room by the end of the day, but they never did. Overall, the accommodation was suitable and clean but the place needs a bit of a revamp as everything is a bit outdated and tattered, including installing double windows as the noise of passing cars and people coming from the outside was extremely loud, particularly as our room faced the main street . Also, be prepared for a lot of light coming in the morning as only 2 of the 3 large windows had blackout curtains installed.
