Extremely small rooms. Shared bathrooms, although clean. Breakfast was bread and jam with coffee, not much else. Saturday was very noisy, the people in the clubs on the street outside was partying until 6 a.m. Bring ear plugs unless you wish to join in.

Arrived at hotel on tuesday evening for a 4 night stay. Reception seemed friendly enough and we got into the lift up to our room 18 on third floor. Once inside the room we noticed a strong bleach smell(we thought at least clean). The room was tiny with one bedside table and chair. The bathroom was miniscule with dirty walls, floor, sink, shower and a large hairball in the toilet?? When getting into bed we then noticed the hair all over the cushions and bed. We pulled back the throw on the bed and seen the very dirty fleece type blanket and quickly removed it. The air-conditioning units were on the outside wall next to the bed and were making a terrible noise till around 2am, so my husband went down to reception to be moved. He was informed 'no rooms available tonight come back in the morning'. We got up in the morning and went to get showered and discovered i couldn't fit in the shower, the gap for entry was around 25cm. My husband went down to reception explained about the noise and shower and hey presto a room is available but we already knew because we had checked their website the night before (4 rooms available) when they said they were fully booked??. Chang ed rooms no probs and then in for breakfast. Lovely service but honestly 3 different bread rolls and cornflakes and this didn't change for our 4 night stay. New room 5 on 2nd floor. More spacious shower is usable still not clean but passable. Around 12.30am the noise started and didn't stop until 6am yes guest house porto clerigus is on the party street of porto. Various night clubs and partying in the street along with the very loud music is horrendous. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PARTY.

Right in a lively part of Porto, fairly short walk from the train station, on the lively little Galéries de Paris street near the main university and several sights, including the now-famous museum-ized bookstore (which in years past I frequented to actually browse and purchase books.) Small, good price, many varied places to eat nearby, friendly and helpful.

Just come back from a 4 night stay here. Worst expirience i have had whilst travelling in europe. First the good points:- Great location for sites Staff friendly Now bad points:- Rooms small, beds uncomfortable matress hard as nails pillows have more air than filling!!! Bathrooms tiny unless your the size of a barbie doll or an action man your gonna struggle. I,ve seen bigger shower cubicles built of lego. Our first room which was number 18 the shower entrance was about 30 cms!!!. Cleanliness sadly not clean our room covered in long black hairs on the floor on the bed. The toilet even had a notice on it saying it had been steralised yet in the pan was a massive black hair ball. Hair dryer we used had actually started to melt!!! Noise. If you are at the back of the building you are hit with the vibration and buzzing from the air con units fastened to the walls and then the thud of bass from the bar/club below. The front of the building you get the noise from the clubs bars and revellers on the street. This goes on till dawn and then the street cleaners arrive. Never have i stayed somewhere where the music made the bed vibrate. Everyone in all languages was talking about the boom boom boom!!!! In the breakfast area in the morning. Bteakfast if you like bread then you've got it made because thats all you get. If your young and want the party scene and want to sleep during the day you got it made otherwise stay clear.

Location was great and the staff was very nice and helpful, BUT: the location is so central that it’s in the middle of a bar street, and the hotel is not soundproof. We stayed for 4 nights and there was music every night, ranging from dance club bass and drunkenness to a pretty nice fado concert. If you are too tired or a light sleeper, not an ideal location. The bathroom is so small that you can’t really turn around in the shower, and you have to shimmy sideways between the shower wall and the sink to reach the toilet. I’m overweight, and people bigger than me might have real difficulties with the shimmy down to the toilet. Also, breakfast is free but all pastries, not suitable for gluten free.
