Our hotel room was a garden room from which we also enjoyed a very good view of the hills and sea. The bed was very comfortable. There are not a lot of spare electric sockets in the room, but we managed. There is a hair dryer in a cupboard that houses the fridge, and it is not connected by a plug. It is connected to a connecting block hidden in a cupboard housing the fridge.. This is not very safe, as is the adapter used to join equipment and the router for the Wi Fi. The room is clean and well decorated, the bathroom is also modern. The Wi Fi signal is superb in the room and very fast at 38 megabits as well. No kettle or tea making facilities exist, so be sure to take one along. The cleaning of the room was done every day when we were at breakfast and out during the morning. Toiletries supplied consist of two small tablets of soap and a small shampoo. I asked the maid if this was the same for the more expensive suites and I was told yes. Fortunately the hotel is far more generous with food. The room did not have a balcony, but one window folded in and that meant we had a balcony of sorts. The air conditioning was good. There are two chairs and a small table in the room as well, excellent for relaxing. The satellite TV had Sky news and BBC Entertainment on it which we watched a few times on the large Smart TV in our room. Towels supplied for swimming and in the rooms are thin and in need of replacement. Breakfast was served to us, but there was an excellent variety of choice, bread, rolls, fruit, yogurt with cereal and cooked breakfasts. The serving staff were very happy and made meal times a joy. Buffet meals are not possible during the Covid 19 situation. The evening meal was also very good with plenty of fish, and steak. Considering the Covid 19 restrictions put in place to protect customers and staff, the service was excellent and friendly. Drinks were not over priced in the hotel either. The outdoor pool is big and lovely, and the man in charge there was busy removing leaves that blow into it. We really enjoyed swimming there because our local pool has been closed since March. The bar serves good snacks and coffee, and alcoholic drinks, and this is useful when you spend time around the pool in the sun-loungers. The hotel is very close to the airport and a short walk from the town of Machico. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops there. We also booked a Dolphin trip in Funchal, and got there by taxi which was outside the hotel. Overall a lovely restful break, the first since March, and we were also impressed at how quickly Madeira processed our Covid 19 test results on arrival at the airport. The tests were turned round in 6 hours.. The hotel was well prepared with the recommended precautions. We had to wear mask everywhere in the hote,l bar our room and restaurant. It is a lovely hotel but definitely not a four star hotel comparing it with others we have stayed in.

We booked this holiday as according to the description it had everything we wanted. All inclusive with entertainment. Just what we wanted. I expected a few changes due to current situation but sadly got a lot more changes than expected. Firstly you do not get a buffet all inclusive u get a menu each day. Lunch and tea u r presented with a choice from 2 starters. a vegetarian option and a fish dish or a meat option for your main. sweet is again 2 choices 1 always being seasonal fruit. This is also the same for your evening meal. Entertainment sadly there is none we found out when we spotted a notice on the board informing guests all entertainment had been cancelled indefinitely. The bar it states is open till 00.00 not the case either the bar closes at 10pm when the bar man will approach and tell u he is closing now so be prepared to go out for a drink should u want a drink past this time. The hotel itself is lovely and clean but all inclusive it is not

we went here in September3th till 10th 2020.The rooms are very clean and cleaned up every day.The lunches were good and the meals were also good(you can choose fish or meat. The staff is very helpfull in any way. In a minutes walk you are in the town of Machico with plenty of restaurants and shops and the beach is also nearby. I advise you to make a tour on the island and ask for Francisco as taxidriver,very relaxed and tells you anything of the island,I have to say there is enough to do in Machico,it is a relaxing city. And DOM PEDRO hotel of Machico helps you to have a beautiful holiday.In any way,we"ll be back for DOM PEDRO Machico

I am sure in different circumstances this would have been a wonderful place to stay. Sadly due to COVID the staffing numbers have been reduced. Due to the Skelton staff being on greatly reduced hours is must impact on their mood and motivation as the staff l encountered were not particularly helpful.. With very few clients 5here is no entertainment or atmosphere and no sight of that improving. The rooms are excellent. Apart from 1 thing. No tea making facilities and when l asked if l could hire a kettle l was informed l would have to upgrade to a suite. All l want is an early morning cuppa in bed. The swimming pool is so cold l am scared of giving myself a heart attack if l get in. Why do they only heat it in the winter when it is unbearably cold in September? I don’t mean bath water warm 🛁 just enough to prevent the ice

First visit to Madeira and given the covid situation please consider this when reading the review. Firstly the location. End of a pebble beach. Great views over the sea. Close to restaurants and shops. Short taxi ride from airport. Flights not intrusive but not many running either. Staff. Great. Some seem to have to put up with unnecessary criticism and abuse because english isn't great, but hey it's a damn sight better than my portuguese. Found them all great especially the pool barman. Anyway, "obrigado", "bom dia" etc go a long way. Facilities. Pool great. Though a little cold!! Sadly nothing else seemed available. Covid related no doubt so won't comment further. Food. No buffet available at any time. Breakfast was great. Lunch and dinner very limited and no children's option. Again probably covid related but disappointing. If on all inclusive you get snacks at certain times but sandwiches and cake are a bit repetitive although welcome for a 9 year old who didn't like the other food options. Room was huge for a triple. Great view. Air con worked a treat. Comfortable bed. Bathroom was fine. But the maid clearing out the minibar on arrival was a little strange as the hotel's own literature said this was included. So, not perfect. But we would come again, although probably only B&B.
