We have been here together with friends and booked a centrally located hotel. It can be reached by Metro (close to Aliados station) or even Trindade which needs 10 minutes walk - not the best with luggage.
The receptionists are very friendly and know their guests (keys to be deposited with them when on tour).
Our room was perfectly nice and quiet, but some of our friends had louder rooms and were not that happy.
The breakfast is standard, but while the rest of the hotel has some nice "good old time" rooms, the breakfast room is pretty sterile and boring. Have breakfast and go.
Basically it is functional, but no hotel you book due to the hotel itself.
