The hotel is located about a 10 minute downhill walk from the town centre with street parking available on our Sunday afternoon arrival. It is not well signposted and took some finding. Service at reception was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and of a decent size, although the facilities were somewhat dated and would benefit from decoration and modernisation. The buffet breakfast was adequate and overall the hotel was reasonably priced.
Viseu, with its history and role as a regional centre, is worthwhile visiting and perhaps merits more than a one night stay. On a Sunday evening the choice of restaurants that were open was limited, and we may have been better advised to choose the tapas-style restaurant directly opposite the hotel rather than seek more atmospheric locations in the historic centre.
