We booked the hotel when it first reopened in September 2020 on a bed / breakfast basis. We had a lovely hotel room which had been updated since our last visit. There were lovely pool views and very helpful staff. The cleanliness and COVID safeguards were in place and we felt very safe. Buffet breakfasts were very well organised with wonderful omelettes and range of other hot food, cereals/ breads/ pastries and cold buffet. Coffee was beautiful. Our hotel manager sorted out a couple of issues very quickly and we had 2 lovely dining events a la carte and an occasional snack lunch. Thank you to all the staff including those at reception, restaurant/ bars and chamber ladies!

We were very disappointed by this hotel. We were excited to go to Tavira... the first impression was good, the main hall is very beautiful. But then we saw the room... it could do with some renovation... it was small and looked old. There were holes in the curtains. We could hear the tv in the room next door which is very annoying. The breakfast was poor for a 4 stars hotel... the coffee horrible... we were in a 4 stars hotel just before and they had a coffee machine with cappuccino, lattes etc. And the staff could be a bit friendlier it wouldn’t hurt... I won’t come back and won’t recommend!!!

The rooms are nice and have most of what you need except tea/coffee making facilities. However when you leave, taking your card key with you for the day, this turns of both the air conditioning and the fridge. You come back to a stifling room and tepid drinks in the fridge. For a high priced hotel this isn't good enough. The pool is big with spacious surroundings. The breakfast setup could only be described as chaotic. Due to Covid there were four sittings which are booked in advance with 45 minutes allocated. This would be reasonable if the service was structured in any logical manner, but its not. Sitting on my own, I had to take a table for six people because none of the two and four seat tables had been cleared. All of the cold breakfast items were by self service and this worked fine. However people had to que to be served with all hot breakfast, tea and coffee, juice and bread. Worse there were two separate ques, hot food and bread from one and tea/coffee and juice from the other. The whole procedure was chaotic. Please reassign the staff who were serving the food to clean tables. Either serve the hot food/tea/coffee/bread and juice at the tables to the guests or make it all self service. Forcing people to que on three separate occasions in a 45 minute breakfast slot is very bad customer service and I'm sure equally bad for staff morale, not to mention the risk of spreading Covid 19.

We stayed in Vila Gale hotel in Tavira for a golf trip. The hotel was pretty good just a bit tired. Staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. Everything was spotlessly clean. Location was ok...

I was in Portugal for the first time with my wife and we chose the Vila Galé hotel through friends who suggested this hotel. We livre the Tavira city and the roman bridge. We loved our stay at the hotel, very professional staff, splendid breakfast, the best omelets I have ever tasted, a young girl named Patrícia, I think, stood out, who was extraordinarily kind to us, even with a huge line of people to always attend smile on the face, congratulations to all the staff and the director of the hotel, we will certainly return.
