This “hotel” claims to be “like the best hotels but it’s a house4” but in reality is four rooms in what seems to be a former apartment in a block on a difficult to find and, even by Bairro Alto standards, rather scruffy street . Access is by key to the block, then by key code into a small shared space and then again by keycode into the allocated room. The décor in our room was tired, and, although arguably meeting the advertised provision, the usual hotel creature comforts (coffee, soaps, TV) were either absent or required further payment, and the heating was inadequate for the time of year. There is no provision for permanent staff at a front desk. The WiFi worked and the bed was reasonably comfortable. Although we had booked and paid (via booking.com) for three nights, a late arrival forced us to stay one night after which we wrote off the next two nights payment and left for a real hotel just down the road.
