We did not stay at the hotel due to Covid-19 and travel advice from UK Government this was contrary to the Portuguese government who stated the boarders were open and hotels open for clients. Portugal was on a no go area at time of our reservations 18 to 25 September 2020 (11 rooms) therefor our travel insurance would have been invalidated, we could have ended up with all sorts of issues We wanted to re-book for the same weekend 2021 but as we had made our booking direct with the hotel in July 2019 on an early booking rate our booking was non refundable. Incidentally the rate we paid was available through other agencies one of which, at least, offered free cancellation . I mention this to evidence the fact that Luna Hotels are accepting bookings through third parties with the free cancellation as part of the contract. Luna Hotels mantra was the borders are open our hotel is open you are welcome to stay, all well and good but the UK government advice was Portugal is a no go area. Luna Hotels would not entertain our request to cancel the booking and rebook for 2021, I even sent a copy of the flights I have already booked for the same weekend in 2021. The end result is we did not travel on 18 September 2020 for our weekend and some for the whole week with others joining the group on Monday 21 September 2020, we did not get refunded the deposit (quite within the contract T & C) we did not get the opportunity to rebook for 2021. So Luna Hotels would rather take our deposits and probably still fill the rooms, some would say good business practice some would say given the circumstances short sighted. One of our group actually sent medical evidence that he could not travel due to Covid-19 being in he high risk category, his deposit was refunded. I have a number of email exchanges that I cant post here but the last one indicated a change of policy suggesting, no, stating I would get a refund, I was told it was a mistake? there was me thinking the person who wrote the rules the staff kept referring to had made some amendments I have no doubt that if Luna Hotels reply to this comment it will be along the lines of "We were only complying with the rules and conditions of your booking, our hotel was open and fit and safe for your visit, our boarders were open you chose not to come" there I've written it for you Never mind plenty of choice for a different hotel for next year We did not stay at the hotel for reasons stated. It would appear it is a very good place to stay so disappointed we could not go. John Radford

Shocking customer service experience charging twice full price when having to cancel twice, £ 700 taken and no offer to rebook at a later date or even a part refund, wouldn't recommend this hotel to my friends or family at all, very poor

We were warmly welcomed by the reception and checked in quickly. The rooms were clean and a decent standard , aircon , dishwasher and a well stocked kitchen. We were having a great holiday but unfortunately had to cut it short due to quarantine rules changing in Scotland, would definitely return to this hotel when the current travel situation changes.

We booked this last minute the day before travelling so didnt have much time to research. The hotel itself has large lobby, friendly reception, our room (1 bedroom) was large. Room was clean, balcony not great, looking out onto a roof, I had expected that the room wouldnt be great as it was booked on a certain booking site so it was better than expected. Paid a bit more than I would pay for the same standard elsewhere I believe. The buffet breakfast that we paid for was fine, you order hot items then go up for the rest. Due to covid everything is individually wrapped. The hotel had sanitizer everywhere and cleaners were in room everyday - although I dont think thats necessarily a good thing at the moment. I did witness them doing a deep clean once guests had left rooms, they appeared very thorough. The hotel is well located. It has a very strange layout, to access the hotel it like being in a multi story car park, this is the only entrance. there is another hotel in front of the Luna. Its the pool from this hotel that is on the picture. The pool for Luna is actually better - it has quality sunbeds, it is accessed by going to 1st floor of Luna hotel. The other hotels pool can be used, it has a bar but was busy with young children so we didnt use. The hotel was primarily non brits at the start - which we preferred (I see some complained about this - wow - why go abroad) but the resort was filling up fast with brits when quarantine was lifted. Overall I feel I would go back to the hotel.

Booked this the week before we flew. Was just looking for a cheap and cheerful week getaway and although probably paid more for this place than we would have had everyone not been all trying to book when Portugal was placed back on the list with UK - it isn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The corridors and rooms good do with an update. But spacious room downstairs with full bathroom and a further bedroom on next floor with a shower room. We were in room 417 on 4th floor and had a lovely view of their newly built pool. The shared pool with the next door hotel looked really busy and lively but we preferred either the beach or the hotels 1st floor pool. No pool bar or music but someone always had a little speaker playing and you could bring your own drink around the pool if you wanted a few cold ones. Didn’t use the hotel bar or restaurant or the spa so can’t comment on them. Must wear masks in the hotel apart from round the pool and in your own apartment. Day shuttle bus to the old town daily which we used and was very good. Quite a good location too not far from strip. We walked both to the strip and the old town and both were just a pleasant walk.
