We stayed at the Patria hotel during our four night stay in Lisbon in November. We found the hotel to be spotless, tidy and well organised and staff members were always pleasant and helpful. Check in is after 3pm and check out is before 12 noon and there is a 24 hour reception desk. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room and is served between 7.30am and about 10.30am. The breakfast was basic but it was well cooked and plentiful. The hotel has free WiFi throughout the building and the rooms where cleaned and the towels were changed every day. There are two small lifts in the hotel but there are about 15 steps to climb before you reach the lifts making it unsuitable for wheel chairs and hard work for families with prams etc.
We had an early flight into Lisbon and as check in was after 3pm we were allowed to leave our cases at the hotel reception until we checked in later on that day. We felt that this was a really nice gesture by the hotel. When we returned the check in was quick and easy. However, one point to remember when checking in is that there is a city tax to pay in Lisbon of €1 per person per night for guests aged 13 and older.
The room and bathroom were well decorated, clean and tidy. They had tea and coffee making facilities and also a small fridge. There was also a safe deposit box in the room along with two bottles of water and biscuits. Soap, shower gel and shampoo etc were also supplied in the bathroom.
The hotel is in an excellent location. Twenty minutes from the airport on the Red Line (10 stops) and it’s well situated for other tram and metro links across the city. The nearest metro station was Saldanha which was about 5 mins walk away and there are also various bus routes going from the surrounding roads. There are plenty of shops, chemists, fast food outlets, cafes and restaurants close by.
One point to remember before booking at this hotel is that dogs are allowed in the rooms. So if you suffer from any sort of pet allergies etc then you better give this hotel a miss. However, apart from that we felt that it was great value for money and we couldn’t really find any negative points! We really enjoyed our stay there and we will definitely stay again if we ever return to Lisbon.
