We spent two nights here with our Labrador. It is a quaint and quirky old Portuguese house with interesting art and furniture. Lovely garden. Good breakfast for €5 pp. Clean. Friendly receptionist on arrival. We found it quite hard to find as there is minimal signage (just a small 8” plaque to the left of the front door) - it looks just like a private house. The hotel is situated quite a long way from the river so a good long uphill walk home. Parking is either on the street with tickets purchased every two hours or in a pay car park through the hotel approx 300 yards away (€7 per day). As I mentioned at the beginning, we had our Labrador with us and our room was on the top floor. The second flight of stairs , the top landing, and our bedroom are all laminate floors so I was very concerned about the noise of his claws on the floors for the rooms below. If we went again I would request a ground floor room. Having said all that it is very reasonable priced and good value.

Stayed for one night with friends. We had a large room with 5 single beds. Not too warm this time of year, but the rooms had heaters which we didn't see in our next hotel in Portugal. Hotel is a bit dated, but full of beautiful character and cheap as chips. Non of us were up for breakfast so can't comment on that. Hotel and area was very quiet. We weren't there for long enough really, but no complaints.

We walked the Camino de Santiago from Porto to Santiago and stayed in the Pedra Iberica for one night before we set out and five nights when we returned. This guest house was Clean, comfortable, had a lovely garden and a fabulous breakfast. It was quaint and located a 10 to 15 minute walk from Porto centre. It's possible to get a metro for one or two stops to a station above the house and walk down to the guest house. The owner held a bag of clothes for us t'll we returned. Once you appreciate that the house is dated and has character, I would recommend the Pedra Iberica.

Good: The staff were very helpful and very welcoming - they were happy to give information about the local area and print our return boarding pass for us. The room was comfortable and clean with a TV, and breakfast was very reasonable at 5 euros p/p. A safe was provided in the room for no extra charge. Easy access to the city centre by a 10 min walk or a short bus ride. Not so good: The neighbourhood was very noisy - we were regularly awoken at around 5am by people shouting outside. Not much noise insulation at all and traffic on the road outside was also loud, although not really a problem during the night. Room facilities were minimal but for 30 euros/night very good value for money. No fault of the owners but the other (German) guests were incredibly inconsiderate, returning from nights out at 3am and shouting all over the place. No staff around to tell them to be quiet.

Though on the outskirts of Porto city centre, Porto city centre is a few minutes drive away. We liked the idea that it is in a quiet neighborhood and parking not much of a problem, unlike the city centre. Found this property as ideal to visit neighboring towns and villages, ideal if you're travelling through Porto Airport and ideal when travelling with kids. The rooms are large and spacious, including the bathroom. The beds are comfortable and large as well. We appreciated that a good cot was provided. The property is clean and provided fresh towel and toiletries as required. Breakfast was fresh, varied and sufficient. We also liked that we had the option of having breakfast inside or outside and had a picnic area where children can play or have a snack in the sun.
