The place is really charming, located on the top of the Serra da Estrela, and the views and landscapes are really astonishing. Great time there. The restaurant is not specially cheap but with great quality. Maybe there is a lack of staff but the ones there were really kind, special mention to Aurora, the recepcionist

Arriving at the hotel, we were charmed by the stunning view over the Valley. But and a big but this hotel is NOT for summer stays. Our main gripe was the lack of Air Conditioning in the Guest rooms as promised on the Pousada.pt website. It was too hot to sleep at night - we even tried sleeping with the balcony door open. The hotel is rather dated and tired looking. Our bedroom was cramped, and the bathroom old fashioned. It all needs updating. We also stayed at the Pousadas in Porto and Cascais - a world of difference. And these are highly recommended by us. We were so disappointed with this Pousada that we asked for our money back. This is part of the Pestana Options scheme. We have been offered an Upgrade on our next trip - you must be joking!

My husband and I spent two night at the Pousada and loved every minute of it. When we first arrived we were given a warm welcome by George. He could not have done more. We had a lovely room with a beautiful view. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent. The waitresses were incredible, sweet and very accommodating. Prior to dinner I asked if the fireplace was going to be started. That was immediately taken care of and my husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine by the fireplace. Great spot. Thank you for making our stay so delightful.

Arrived in mid March 2013 after a late snow storm covered the roads and landscape in white. What a welcome sight - an historic mountain inn, warm and safe for the night. Many a traveler must have felt that way. Room was comfortable and large. Service friendly and efficient. Dining room food and service very good. There is nothing in the immediate vicinity. No shops, no restaurants. Your are up on a mountain. Manteigas, a small community is abut 30 minutes away, down a winding mountain road. So think of this as an overnight stop, not a resort. But it is a good stop.

We were in our route to Serra da Estrela which was very hard since the hill is full of tiny curves and took us more time than we expected to arrive. So we got there about 19:00h and we left the followed morning. The weather was extremely cold up there, seems to be a nice skiing spot.
