We really felt welcome in this old mill transformed in small design hotel with moden feeling. A warm welcome, not only at the beginning but every morning. Need some guidance on restaurant or directions, just ask. At breakfast, same story. You get an espresso if she sees you do not like the coffee. The flavor of yoghurt was changed the next day when mentioned. Early breakfast is possible if you ask. Laundry service is available and of good quality. And this warm feeling of being welcome goes for all staff, whether they speak English or not. Spotlessly clean, both outdoors as indoors. The pools as well, the jacuzzi, steam bath, our rooms...all very clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel fits both families with young children with the inside pool as bigger families such as ours with the possibility of the appartments. Indoor pool is heated, outdoor pool is not heated but quite refreshing At about 10-15 minutes from the beach, less than an hour from Lisbon, the location is good. We did not dine at the quinta however the possibility exists if you want. Really no minus? Very few, the only thing we can mention is the fitness apparel is a bit outdated, at breakfast the orange juice is not really fresh. Nevertheless I recommend it highly!

You might consider this a strange title, but it describes best the experience we had at this place. Quinta do Molinu is a nice guesthouse, it has been built around an ancient mill in a modern style with rooms spread over the property. Our 'impression': the owners have invested in this property and are now focussing on 'return on investment'. The place is almost entirely run by two employees who seem to have several tasks depending on the time of day. The owners themselves hardly show up, only at breakfast did the lady of the house help a little to serve breakfast, not bothering to talk to her guests. Even at check-out she didn't really seem to care a lot and didn't even ask whether we enjoyed our stay. It might be just an 'impression' but this is certainly not a way to create sympathy ... Upon arrival there was a lady working in the garden who saw us coming and who came to meet us, show us around and give us the keys of the room. This turned out to be famous 'Suzanne'. She does about everything at the quinta, no effort is too much for her, it is she who does the breakfast, you can ask her anything and she will try to help you, she likes to talk to the guests and is a warm and friendly person. The owners are very lucky to have this woman employed. Besides Suzanne there was also a second lady responsible for cleaning the rooms and from time to time also helping a little at breakfast. What we feel about the quinta: 1. rooms We had a very nice 'suite' with a separate sitting area. Positive points: - as the hotel is on a quiet location, it was silent at night - the bathroom gives instantly warm water - nicely decorated and nice size of room Minus points: - Worst aspect of this room: the mattresses were a complete disaster, we slept really bad because of this, I really don't think the owners would consider sleeping even 1 night on such mattresses, but they do not replace them. I think this says a lot about the owners. - The toilet is at the back-end of the room and has no door + a celing of 180 cm high, not very pleasant for 'smells' and not very handy for tall people. Also you do not have privacy so you need to be a 'close' couple to accept this. - The towels were like 'cardboard', very rough and unpleasant to use - The sofa unfortunately already had several stains, but they will probably not replace them for this reason. 2. Breakfast Breakfast to us was just 'okay'. You can't complain that you are short of anything, whatever you ask Suzanne she will try to provide it, but of course she is limited to what is 'available' and this is quite standard. There was nothing 'homemade', you get some 'industrial' bread, industrial jam, some 'kellogs' cereals and yoghurt, Suzanne also baked some pancakes (or rather, she 'warms' pre-fabricated pancakes), a few slices of industrial cheese & ham and a bit of sliced fruit. As described in other reviews, coffee is worthless: a thermos bottle on the table and not worth mentioning. But if you ask Suzanne, she will make you an espresso, as there is a small espresso machine behind the bar (attention, she does not propose this, you have to ask her), this coffee was of course a lot better. 3. Facilities The guesthouse has a nice outdoor and indoor pool, tennis field, fitness area, sitting corners, garden, so no complaints about this 4. Location You definitely need a car! First of all, without a car we don't see how you will ever get there. Secondly, whatever you intend to do, without a car you're nowhere: 20 to 30 minutes driving to visit the beaches, 20 to 30 minutes driving to find a restaurant (if you ask beforhand the quinta will serve dinner, they say, we didn't want to try, I don't see 'who' will cook?) So, all in all, this is a nice place with both positive and negative aspects. Were we really 'unhappy'? No, mainly thanks to Suzanne. Would we ever return here? Also 'no' !

Staff is real nice and polite. Hotel is located in a nice quiet place. Everything is clean and confy. Hot tube and hot water on swimming pool. Excelente free internet. Everything seems to be very well taken care.

Spotlessly clean, excellent facilities, made to feel welcome. We had the two-bedroom apartment for ourselves and our two children, and everyone was happy and comfortable. Plenty of good breakfast. Great indoor pool which the children much appreciated! Being super-critical we'd say that we would have preferred to have changed a couple of pillows for more comfy ones - and maybe on a couple of day felt that an earlier breakfast (from 9am) would have been appreciated - but then we didn't ask if we could have made an exception and had it earlier!

We stayed a few days in the summer. The property is beautiful and the staff very welcoming and friendly. There are, however, a few things that bothered us: Breakfast was o.k., however, there could have been more variety. A big disappointment was the coffee which tasted like dish water, really, no kidding! Most of the guests just couldn't drink it. You could get cappuccino etc., but you had to ask for every cup. I wonder why they served this stuff when everywhere in Portugal you get some delicious "galao" (coffee with milk), but not at this place. As people with an active lifestyle we had booked this place because of the gym and the indoor pool, but most workout machines were in a poor condition or broken altogether, and you could not use the indoor pool whenever you wanted it, as it was sometimes covered up. The outdoor pool was heated sometimes, but sometimes not. So you had to check first each time you wanted to use it. The restaurant meals were extremely overprized (by portuguese standards), so nobody really wanted to eat there. In a nutshell: Nice property and friendly staff, but poor service and quality, o.k. for 1-2 days, but not recommended for a longer stay. Overprized for what you get.
