My wife and I stayed here three nights for the UK bank holiday weekend. This was our second stay, we had been once before for our anniversary weekend in 2018.
This hotel is truly flawless. From the communications with the "GEM Team" in the lead up to the stay, to the airport pickup, to the welcome and check in experience, everything felt thoughtful and well executed.
Then we got the room. We had a "Quinta River" with a terrace. It was large, modern, and luxurious, with a comfortable sofa, huge bed, open sink area with separate shower and toilet rooms, and a massive TV (subtly recessed into the wall so as not to dominate the room). The minibar had complimentary sparkling and still water.
We didn't leave the property the whole time, except for one dinner at DOC by Rui Paula (easily organised by the hotel, including taxi pickup and dropoff). The pool has plenty of space, no need to "claim" a bed early in the morning. Breakfast was even better than we remembered (served at the table to prevent too much crowding at a buffet). Other meals were great as well, including the impressive wine selection and a strong array of non-alcoholic options.
One minor complaint - the music at the pool feels off-brand. After listening to some great Portuguese / Brazilian singing from the live musician in the evenings, it felt weird to spend the day listening to soft pop covers at the pool.
We'll certainly be back as soon as we can!
