The staff at Yours was great, very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was good and location quite convenient (especially if you're travelling by train). The bed was very comfortable and the shower works perfectly. Very easy check-in/out. They made arrangements when we needed early breakfast and the food and drinks at their restaurant were delicious. The only thing we didn't like is that we were not aware that they don't clean the room every day (only once in 4 nights). But overall, a very good place to stay in Porto.

I was in Porto last month and I had the chance to visit this restaurant located in downtown. The decoration is really pretty and the atmosphere really comfortable. I would like to congratulate people who approached to me suggesting what to eat, Fernanda, what to drink, Pedro and of course Antonio who came to my table a couple of time so see if everything was OK. Something that impressed me was that the chef came to my table to ask how was the dish. It was the first time I had met the chef from a restaurant. And of course the dish was exquisite, I ordered salmon and potatoes with bacon. I totally recommend this place to have dinner at Porto. *I would like to make one suggestion, to improve the system of cooker hood. :)

This small hotel located near the Torre dos Clergios is in the heart of the historic district and within walking distance of almost every site of interest in the city. Rooms are a reasonable size and comfortable. There is a restaurant downstairs and the breakfast is quite nice with a selection of breads, hard boiled eggs, meats, cheeses and fruits. The staff is friendly and helpful. Only drawbacks are no elevator and the desk is open only from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for two nights, and then came back later in the week for one more night. This guesthouse is very quiet and clean. It is clear they take great care and pride in making sure that guests are comfortable. If you are expecting to be waited on, this is not the place for you. Staff are very helpful and will help you with your luggage. They were very accomodating and held our bags when our room was not quite ready (and then put our bags in the room for us). There is no air conditioning, but this was not an issue since we were there in October. There is a fan if you get too warm. If you have mobility issues you may want to look elsewhere--quite a few stairs and it's located on a fairly steep hill. We were in room 4. It's very basic, but clean. One might say it has a bit of a boho chic vibe. The bathroom is actually quite large considering the overall space. We didn't find the mattress terribly comfortable. We couldn't tell if it was the mattress, the frame or both that squeaked quite a bit. Bathroom is up to date, no quibbles there. The guesthouse does have breakfast, which is included with your room rate. Coffee, teas, some juice; pastries, deli meats and bread, some boiled eggs and cereal. This is served in the dining room in the back. There is also a garden area. You can also buy coffee between meals. Dinner is served here too, but on top of your rate. We opted not to dine here mostly because it was a bit noisy (level of chatter). The menu was appealing, though! And there are several restaurants down the hill. This is very centrally located. The famous bookstore, Livraria Lello, is about three blocks away. Clerigos is practically around the corner. There's a lovely guitar shop a few blocks away. Sao Bento station--five minutes' walk. We had a car service drop us off--be warned that quite literally *at* the door of this place there is a bollard preventing cars from continuing down the street--it's a pedestrian zone only during certain hours. You might want to mention that, but it shouldn't cause a problem--the car can carefully back up a little bit and then turn the corner. My only quibble, aside the mattress, is that I had booked a room via Expedia with a patio for the 2nd portion of our stay. This somehow got lost, but I still had a room--just no patio. As far as I was concerned this was better than not having a room so I did not raise a fuss and I was refunded the difference. I would recommend, however, that if you want a particular room (instead of a standard), book directly via the guesthouse's website. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and I don't think we could have done better.

We stayed here in May and the owners/managers were delightful and our stay could not have been better; small rooms in the guest house itself, but clean and well managed; very helpful. We just returned from another stay September 20 to the 25th, and because the rooms had been small and a bit loud on our previous stay, we rented the apartment which was down the street a bit but not far. It was a nice size and the view was spectacular, but it was dark and pretty run down by American standards. There were places where water had leaked in and damaged the ceiling and walls, and when we walked in, the person from the guesthouse apologized that the door to the terrace had jammed shut so badly that the glass in the door had broken; there was a crack all the way across and water was coming in and puddling inside the door. I should have realized then what was happening - heavy construction next door and the house adjacent was being demolished. Apparently, the ground had shifted and the terrace end of the apartment was affected. But there was another door to the terrace that worked, so we did not say anything as we were busy with business in Porto. Saturday and Sunday were fine if you don't mind no air conditioning, loose faucets in the kitchen, water damaged walls, mold in places and grease in the kitchen fan, etc., but not terrible. THEN Monday hit: at first it was just some trucks outside, but then the actual demolition began and the entire place literally shook and vibrated to the point that pictures on the walls shifted and the door on a clock on the wall flew open. Dust was everywhere and I did not feel completely safe being on a cliff in an old house with this going on next door. But we only had Monday and Tuesday to complete our business, and I really did not want to go back to the guesthouse and the small rooms. The noise was so very bad that we were glad to be away for most of the day, we could not use the terrace because of the dirt and dust, and all the floorboards on the terrace had shifted and split. We went out once to look at the demolition next door, and when I sat down the chair went through the floor. It was not a good experience and we went to tell them about it at the guesthouse before we left at 8:00 in the morning. The door was locked and even though it says you can ring the bell, no one came. I emailed the guesthouse and they basically said it wasn't their fault there was construction being done, so too bad for us. I told them that they should tell potential renters about the actual conditions and that this may affect what is supposed to be a quiet and enjoyable stay in Porto. I asked for 2 nights credit which I thought was a good compromise, and got the same reply: we can’t control everything so pay up. Granted we should have said something on Monday, but barely had time to get done what we needed to get done and did not have time to move everything for one remaining day. But the new management does not seem to care about what it happening to their guests, and just want their money. Just look at how the comments have changed recently from superb to not recommended; something has changed and it is not for the better.
