This is my umpteenth stay at Faleza Hotel in Galati. The name comes from the boardwalk (faleza) by the Danube, which is literally a few meters in front of the hotel. The general location is very close to the central pedestrian park, with half the rooms facing the quiet Danube.
Having tested more hotels in this city, I like how consistent Faleza is in the hard product. You always get a spacious, clean room, a proper bathroom with bathtub and movable-handle shower, basic toiletries in individual packs, and high-speed internet.
Another reason to choose it is the restaurant (ground floor, second entrance) called Union Jack which is open late into the night with good food (when there’s not much else available).
Is it a luxury hotel? No. But most rooms are very modern, with wide beds and proper bedding (very good mattresses), and if yours opens on the Danube, some superb views.
Where could they improve: breakfast; it currently has a few meat and veg options, coffee, some juice and breads, and 1-2 spreads, all in relatively small quantities. It could do better. Otherwise, it attains expectations and is a place that I’ll come back to again and again.
