Stayed at this guesthouse for 2 nights while in Andong. Basically the stay was a pit stop from Seoul to Gyeongju and thought it'd be a good idea to check out the Hahoe village and some of the temples in Andong. this guesthouse is about 800m away from the bus terminal and there is no way to get there from the bus terminal except walking. So if you've got a big and heavy suitcase you won't be finding a taxi to take ya there from the bus terminal as it is too short of a distance. if you are going from the train station in town then you are looking at a fare between 6,000 won to 9,000 won (roughly US$5 - 8). If you have a car then it'd be no problem at all. Otherwise, the only way to get to town directly from the guesthouse is by taxi or you can walk to the bus terminal (800M) and take the bus. The guesthouse itself is a themed cafe with lot of books as you can see in the pictures provided by the owner. Pretty descent coffee and guests get a 20% discount. Breakfast is simple but sufficient. cereal, toast, boiled eggs, fruit, and OJ and is served between 8-9am. There's a 7-11 (convenient store) and one restaurant nearby (near the bus terminal) and there's a fast food joint inside the terminal. apart from that there's no other places to eat and the guesthouse does not serve meal. However, it does sell cup noodles and rice. or you can do like I did, get the yummy microwave meals from the 7-11 and bring them to the guesthouse. The staff there were happy to keep it in the fridge for me and then heated it up at the meal time. Staff were very friendly and willing to help. I stayed in the double room and it is quite small and basic, but hey I wasn't planning to stay in my room for long anyway so it's good enough. The charm of this guesthouse is rather what's outside the room in the common area. lovely set up and homey it gives you the feeling of a home. It also has a laundry room that guests can use. All in all, if you are looking for a place very close to the action and in the town centre and with room service and house keep then you should look elsewhere. but if you are looking for a place with a personality to stay and don't mind the travel then this is a lovely choice for you. By the way, if you are like me, planning to use the local bus to go to the Hahoe village and the temples. then this is also a good place to stay as both buses stop at the bus terminal nearby.

As we arrived with taxi we were shocked by the remote location, but at the end it was a nice place to stay. We were in a family room (the only one?), the rest seems to be dormitories. Cons : Location next to the bus terminal means that it is completely outside of the city, almost countryside, and far away from anything : you cant pick a taxi (but staff can call one for you) and there is nothing nearby to eat or shop. Unless you need to go to the bus terminal (as we did), you have no reason to be in this area. Pros : Downstairs is a very cosy café, nice place to chill, comfy and with travel books and others, you can sip a latte or have some cake. Upstairs are the rooms. Family Room was a bit small for us 4 (no space to walk around) but clean and ok. Bathroom was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better than the other guesthouses we went to. Actually it feels more like a small hotel than a guesthouse, and more comfortable. Imagine a Starbucks Café but with a more intimate & personal style, with a few standard room upstairs.

We chanced upon this wonderful guesthouse in Andong. Charming, hipster design, American jazz, floor to ceiling books, and cool cafe. Rooms are dorm style and there was 1 family room where we stayed. Perfect for one night. Need GPS to locate. Not ideal for very young children.

The place is a bit of walk from the bus station, around 15mins walk. It is located at isolated area between farm land and scrapyard? For females visitor maybe a little bit scary to walk at night alone. I will not recommend for traveler with large suitcase, gravel road and uphill. The owners speak okay english, but was very helpful with most questions. The room is small, but clean and comfortable. There is no elevator, so prepare to lift your luggage up the stairs. The price is reasonable.

The owner of this guesthouse is so incredibly generous and passionate about a good service! It started with picking us up at the train station, continued with a welcome tea and cookies, directions for sight seeing, lending umbrellas, organizing a get together with free pizza and drinks in the evening, a lot of smiles, and ended with calling a taxi and good bye cereal bars. Also the interior reflects this passion: the ground floor is a lovely decorated cafe and library where we immediately felt welcome. Thank you! It was a relaxing pleasure to stay at your place! More details: On a very short notice the owner made us, 3 people, a very good value offer to stay for 2 nights, 1 night in a family room with 2 large double beds in the second floor (ie one above ground floor) and 1 night in a room with 6 mattresses on the attic floor. The first night was perfect for our needs, very comfortable beds and everything clean. The second night was still good but the bathroom was not completely clean. Note that it's kind of hostel style and you should take of your sheets but everything from shampoo to hair dryer is provided. The transfer between the bedrooms was very smoothly with the owner carrying our luggage while we were sightseeing. The guesthouse is not so close to the center but close to a bus station from where you can go directly to the Hahoe folk village (takes 50 minutes or so). There is a direct bus connection from the center/train station that does not go too often but the owner picked us up at the train station and taxis are cheap here (roughly 8900 Won for this distance as of Feb 2016). Overall I can highly recommend the place for its great atmosphere and good value.
