We stayed with the hotel for 02 nights from 24 - 26 December 2017 during the Christmas period. We were looking forward to an enjoyable stay, as it's the holiday season and there must be a handful of activities to look forward. Traveling to the hotel from Seoul is not as bad as you would have thought, it was relatively easy. We took a train from cheongnyangni station, which took us around 4 hours to reach Gohan Station and waited for the shuttle bus to bring us to the hotel. Please bear in mind, the shuttle schedule you see on their website IS NOT VALID. Refer to the ones pasted at the bus stop or the hotel pamphlets. Upon arrival, check in was effortless, when we arrived at our room, the room was cool and looks really great. The horror only happened after leaving our rooms and upon returned.. 1. F&B outlets are all FULL. The concierge tells every foreign guest who came to them to wait for a seat, whereby the restaurant staff says there's no seats for 24th and 25th. Internal communication dude. Its 8pm and you can't tell your hungry guest to wait for a seat when there would never be one in any of your main restaurants. Upset and angry guests left the concierge and search for their own food, including us. 2. The room was very stuffy and on the aircon panel was showing 26 degrees. Nobody sleeps in a 26 degrees rooms dude. I was so upset after several tries and called the front desk. The housekeeping guy came, tested and obviously he knows that the aircon is SPOILT, as there's no air coming out from the vents! Instead of telling us that we could have done a room change or something, he immediately push the blame saying it's winter and they don't have aircon. Please tell me, who in the right mind would give you a room with no windows during winter? So you're telling your guest, me, that i have to pay close to 400 per night to sleep in a 26 degrees room, whereby your the corridor and lift landings are much much much cooler? He even brought me a small fan which DO NOT HELP AT ALL. With much dismay, i head down to the front desk and requested for a room change. The guy at the front desk told me that there's no aircon during winter, same thing, i told him that no guest in the right mind would sleep in a room like this and mind you, i've stayed at High 1 a few years ago and we could toggle the aircon and control the room's temperature. So don't try to brush it off. He called the manager and came back to tell me the same thing all over again. But i'm sorry, I do not accept that as i'm also from the hospitality sector. This is totally not acceptable, you can't have your guest sleeping in such a room and no guest would accept it. You jolly well do what you need to do. After much "internal discussions" between the few front desk staff and emphasizing the hotel is full (which i dont care, because you're supposed to resolve my issue), they reluctantly changed my room and kept telling me its a upgrade from my current room. To be frank, I DONT REALLY CARE IF IT'S A UPGRADE, i just needed a room with king bed and a working aircon :) Thank god that the aircon worked in our new room, but we had another issue, the aircon stops functioning and turns off on its own every 1 - 2 hours. I was woken up by the stuffiness in the middle of the night a couple of times. We were too exhausted and decided to live with it till check out. 3. Other than signboards in foreign language, even the schedules of shows and activities are in KOREAN. Great job guys, it shows that your hotel do not value your foreign guest who are staying with you. 4. The staff are courteous BUT they don't really understand well. It can be quite frustrating to repeat yourself time and again and eventually some foreigners gave up and walked away. All in all, if you would ask me, i wouldn't recommend this ski resort. There are plenty options to choose from and are much closer to Seoul. This stay was a total disappointment!

My daughter and I stayed here during the Chusok Holiday (Korean Thanksgiving). It's normally a 3.5 hr drive from Seoul (when not leaving/returning on a Chusok exodus day). - It's located in a beautiful mountainous area - The resort grounds are very nice. Manicures lawns, lots of flowers and foliage - The interior of the hotel is on par with what you'd expect at the Vdara or Aria hotels or perhaps almost to the level of the Trump hotel in Vegas (I've stayed at all the aforementioned locations) - We were given a room w 2 queen beds. Very roomy (gigantic by Japan standards) and nicely appointed though I wouldn't say it was luxurious - the bathroom was quite large with a large separate shower with rain shower head and separate wand. There was a large stand alone bathtub (think modern claw foot tub) with shower wand attachment - probably the nicest tub I've seen at a hotel - parking was a bit confusing. But it's self parking to the right, opposite the hotel as u turn left into hotel area (it appears to be underground). We valet parked. It was 15,000 Won (about $13.50 US) per day - Fireworks every night we were there were amazing. I'd put it on par w the Disney Land (California) fireworks (which I've seen numerous times). Coordinated to music, including some contraption that shoots balls of fire. We watched from our, almost top floor room a few nights, best view - 1.5 hrs drive away from Samcheok beaches. Clear blue water. Gorgeous. Clear bottom kayaks for rent at some beaches (20,000 Won for 2 person, 40,000 Won for family boat - all clear bottom so you can see into the water) - about 1 hour drive to rail cars, 45 minute drive to glass U-shaped sidewalk goes over cliff. It's right next to probably the longest, highest (and scariest) zip-line ride I've ever seen. Probably 1.25+ mile long and over 2,000 ft above ground at the beginning - We were the only Westerners we saw while there - very few English-speakers at the hotel, but don't let it dissuade you. It wasn't a problem for us - The restaurants were merely marginal. The food was not remotely amazing, yet of course it was very expensive (think resort prices) - there is a casino there and we walked through to go to a restaurant but didn't play - a Big negative was they wanted 14,000 Won per person to have access to the swimming pool. I've never heard of a resort charging to have access to the swimming pool. Not at The Trump, The W, the Fairmont - all hotels have a similar or higher star rating. We just thought that was lame. - There were lots of activities for parents and young children on the big grass lawn

I stayed in high one hotel before and this time I stayed in convention hotel. actually I booked Gangwon land hotel but they told me upgrade to convention hotel. the two hotels are connected together, just next to each others. My advice is for family ski rig kids better stay in here. food choices are more here than high one. more international food choices and longer in room services hour. the bad point to me in high one is their in room service time is limited. for ski , here you can take shuttle bus as well to ski and once arrive you can choose go up or down. I would recommend this ski hotel

This is the best hotel room we stayed. As we stayed at the corner, we enjoyed 2 sides of full length glass windows with beautiful mountain views, including from the bath tub! The rooms are very new, clean and cosy. There is a free dance performance in the evening and nice indoor swimming room. WiFi is free and fast. Cafe is cosy and the hotel is grand.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The room is spacious even with an extra bed. Air conditioning is cold. The bathroom is big, with bath tub, shower room and heated toilet bowl. It provides facial cleanser and moisturiser in sachets. The swimming pool is heated so it is safe for kids in cold weather. We also enjoyed the slides at the pool (floats are provided). The down side is there is no convenience store nearby. We can watch the fountain show from our room at night, without stepping out. We can also enjoy the mountain view from our room.
