I gave this a 3 star rating not because it's not a good place to stay. In fact it's great value for money, comfortable, clean, well-heated and ventilated in winter and we would stay again. But it's to set expectations that this is not an international class accommodation. It's a local accommodation with Ondol Rooms (mats to sleep on the floor). We were upgraded to the Hill Condo Suite which had one proper bedroom with a Western-style bed and another room with where one would sleep on the floor. The equipment and furnishing in the rooms were sparse. The kitchen only had very basic utensils - no microwave, no oven, no dishwasher, no washing machine. There's a stove with a pot and a pan for cooking. There's also a rice cooker and kettle. The bath towel provided was small - 2 feet long by 9 inches wide. It was thick so was able to wipe away the water after bathing. There are also just 1 cloth hanger for each person. Toiletries provided was just a round piece of soap about 2 inches in diameter. Shampoo is not provided. Its basic.
The Hill Condo itself has no cafe or restaurants but there's a caterer who provided a delivery service and pasted menus on the door in the evening. We didn't try this as we skied at night but would be concerned whether we could order in English. The only convenience is a convenience store which opens till late at the ground floor. We usually returned at 10.30pm and it's still opened.
The Gondola connecting the Valley, Hill and Mountain Condos is free of charge and the best means of transport within the resort. There are restaurants, cafes, fast food, food courts at Valley and Mountain Condos.
The Shuttle bus to Seoul also leaves and arrives at Mountain Condo.
If you check out early, they will hold your baggage at Block C at Hill or Mountain.
We came here primarily to ski. The skiing experience was good. The longest run possible which connected a few slopes was around 4.5km. The difference between Japan/Europe/North America skiing is the slopes are very well groomed and even and no off-piste skiing - fine by us as we are no expert skiers.
We booked through Package Korea who incidentally were brilliant but this review is about the accommodation and not the agent. I would highly recommend them if you need to book something "local" and off the beaten track in Korea and concerned that language and familiarity maybe a problem. We were initially a little hesitant as we found them on the internet and couldn't find any references online. They were very responsive. Gave us many options and arranged everything perfectly including sending us photos of meeting locations. Their driver even helped us to check into the condo (as the condo front desk staff did not speak good English) and then drove the van to our the elevator/lift landing of our block before helping us unload.
