This place is absolutely fine, the Spanish lady on reception was really pleasant and she spoke excellent English. It's about 5 minutes off the Camino and it's well sign posted so it's pretty easy to find. There is a real Indian/Hippy vibe in the albergue which i found really charming. This is about a 20 minute walk to the end of the Camino. I always prefer to stay slightly out of a town centre then you get to see the real town as you walk into the middle of it. Santiago is such a beautiful place, I've really missed it since I've gotten back. I met 2 very funny and friendly Californian's in this Albergue and we sat awake quietly drinking port, having a good discussion about music and sports. This is is excellent place to stay and will only enhance your experience. Thanks a lot I'll definitely be back.

Felipe at the desk was so kind. He speaks like 5 or 6 languages, so he will definitely be able to help with whatever you need. At walking distance from the albergue there is a huge shopping mall with lots of restaurants, and a Carrefour (it's as big as a Walmart!). You can buy everything there; food, cloth, chairs, books,... You will only need a 7-8 minutes walk to get to the bus terminal. There is a bus going straight to the airport. Getting to the cathedral is quite a walk though (15-20 minutes)... If you've walked the camino, it's nothing! But if you are looking for something close to the old town, that albergue isn't what you need. Remember, it's an albergue not an hotel. Expect your door to be a curtain. We had a room for 4 (2 bunk beds). Very clean, confortable mattresses, nice showers with hot water. Large kitchen if you want to cook. We stayed there for 4 days and really enjoyed it. Curfew is at 11:00. The music is kind of loud and annoying... especially if you are not fond of meditation, yoga, spiritual music. That would be my only negative point and it isn't that bad!

Without a doubt the WORST hostel I've ever stayed in! - and after travelling for seven months straight, I've been in a few.. Where even to start with this one.. Some architectural genius involved decided to ignore the functional aspects of a door and simply hang curtains up between the dormitories. This obviously does not do wonders for noise containment, and when you have 40+ people sleeping in rooms separated by a few loose curtains - particularly with a steam-train snorer or group of jubilant Germans - falling asleep is but a dream, as the sound reverberates with an impressive clarity throughout the entire set of dormitories. If you do finally manage to get some zzz's, you can be sure it won't be for long as you will almost certainly be woken by the 'inspirational' religious music they start blasting at an absurdly early hour of the morning. Forget any tea, coffee or toast for brekky - there's no kettle or toaster to be found here, although if you like, you can PAY to use the stove. If you do decide to stay here, I hope you enjoy cold showers because that's all you'll get. A single push-button that will deliver you approximately 4-seconds of lukewarm water after a solid minute of the Arctic Ocean. And unless you have your own sleeping bag, you'll probably also freeze at night - they provide you with only a thin, scratchy blanket to sleep with (forget the outrageous luxury of a sheet). And no, they won't give you an extra one if you're cold. I tried. Staying at this place, you'll want to enjoy walking a lot as you are not even remotely close to the centre of town. The only upside is that it's located near the bus station and thus allows for a rapid departure from this miserable dump. Add to all of the above an utterly uninterested and unfriendly receptionist, temperamental/ non-existent wifi, and an unsettling, eerie atmosphere - in total, an absolute fail on every level. I would strongly advise to stay far, far away! (..unless of course you're a wacky pilgrim and into the whole self-deprivation thing, in which case this place is perfect for you..)

Nice, clean and friendly hostel in Santiago. Could leave our bicycles inside the hostel, which is convenient. The theme of the hostel is spirituality, a bit kitschy, but it's OK. I love kitsch. :-) The ambiance is great and the hostel is perfect for a good night rest. The price is fair, and it's not far from the center of Santiago. On the down side, you have to pay for using the stove (more than the real cost of the electricity, really) and the separation of waste is poor. Unfortunately, this last situation is common in most hostels - there should be more concern about recycling and separation of waste.
