By the looks of the photos, people would assume that it´s a party hostel and a noisy one. Well, yes, the noise and the fun never stops, that´s true, but I´m astonished by the building´s design and how they managed to contain the noise in the ground floor so don´t worry if your thinking that the rooms in the upper floor will be noisy- no it´s not. I love how the check in and check out works with friendly and cool staff. With regards to security, it´s also awesome and safe as there are no physical keys or worries that an unauthorised person may wander off the rooms since you will need the QR code you will receive on your Personal Electronic Devices to access the rooms or other areas such as the pantry that are exclusive for the guests. The downside of the technology is, if your battery is low/ dead or lost your device, worst, if you lost your email with the QR code. Rooms are fantastic and I can just say that the shower is just amazing. The bed bunks are spacious and comfortable, trunks to keep your precious items are also great. However, I find the rooms dark and lacks decent lighting specially at night which they should´ve thought in the first place. WiFi is available and free but the connection can be unstable at times. Prices of the rooms/ beds are very competitive and even cheaper if you book directly from their website and booking process is easy, fast and very convenient. It´s like 2 minutes walk away from Tribunal Metro station,

As the corona-virus became a large problem, I attempted to cancel my reservation more than 48 hours prior, as they say their policy is. I was denied this cancellation and charged. In times of a pandemic, extremely disappointing this hostel would care more about profit than safety.

We went with a very big group and although check in was a little slow, which was to be expected with us being so many, the staff were quite friendly and helpful. I say this without having interacted with them that much so this is not something I can assure as friends of mine had a bit of a bad experience with those aspects. We stayed in a six person room, the layout was very well designed giving the most amount of privacy possible and the showers were gorgeous. They had the best bedding I had ever seen in a hostel, without a doubt, and the rooms were very clean. The lock system was very secure, with electronic qr codes and helpful as you didn't have to carry a key around and everyone could get sent a picture so we didn't rely on the "key holder" being with us every time we wanted to go up. The downstairs was very cozy and could be used at all times, we didn't feel like we don't belong while we sat there. The breakfast buffet was a bit lacking, especially considering their options were very limited for people with dietary restrictions, they only offered toast. I guess you could say it was because of the low price but I've been to other cheaper places, which had rooms which were way worse but who had a much more varies breakfast offer. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend staying here, especially if you want to explore Madrid as it was very near to the metro and it's location was quite centric without being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle and night life, but allowing you to get there very quickly on foot.

Simply put, if I stayed in a room like this on my own rather than with three others, in the same part of town, I would have to pay 5 times what I paid. In the cool part of town. 5' walk away from the heart of the city. Great staff, easy access with the pass, super comfy and spacious bunk, clean facilities (seperate for each room!). 100% recommend to anyone visiting Madrid. If I ever come back I don't have to look for where to stay. If you want to be served and pampered book a hotel and pay quadruple. This is as good as hostels get.

After I’ve been traveling for 2 months in Central & South America I stayed at Bastardo for 4 nights because of transer. The hostel was big, clean and the location is great. But after 2 months of traveling, this is the Worst staff I ever come across during this trip and hostels I’ve stayed at! Rude, careless and not serviceminded (I’m working in hospitality by myself so I know What service is all about) at all! I recommend to stay at another hostel if you want fun, nice, helping, and outgoing staff around you! And yeah btw. There is NO kitchen, it’s just a fridge and a microwave. Won’t come back.
