Spent 4 nights in room 304 last week. I did glance through reviews here beforehand ... yes, the staff is very nice, the location is fabulous, and the rooms are tiny, BUT I should have taken to heart the reviews that warned about noise.
Being 4 floors above the street, I didn’t expect to clearly hear voices yelling below, the screech of bus and truck brakes, and sirens all night long. The windows have no noise insulating features whatsoever. In addition, as I stared up at the ceiling each night unable to sleep, I noticed a deep rolling thunder sound repeating every several minutes ... it’s the Metro running down below! I did use earplugs, but could still hear the noise because it’s so loud.
The bed is extra firm and the pillows are extra flat (fortunately they provide 5 of them so the 2 of us stacked them together). The blanket barely hangs off the sides of the narrow bed so we had to request a second one to cover 2 people.
Since this building is a narrow triangle shape with busy streets on both sides, I think they’ll need to install all new soundproof windows to resolve this problem.
Next time we visit Barcelona, we’ll search for a place on a quiet side street to avoid this problem.
