When we arrived the hotel was having a DJ party on the roof, this went on until after 2am and was so loud the floor and walls were vibrating so we got limited sleep.
The next night there was the Holi festival which albeit external noise went on until after 3am which was incredibly loud, unfortunately our first room had an adjoining door and you could hear everything that our next door neighbours said and did. It was so uncomfortable, they might have well been stood over me whilst I “slept”.
The next day we asked to move rooms, which to be fair to them they did. The room was much better, a bit quieter and more out of the way.
Beware when using taxis in Suriname, the hotel arranged one for us to get to Leonsberg boat terminal. It should cost approx 30SRD - the one on the way out did, he was genuine but the one coming back ripped us off by saying he had no small change. He also tried to arrange us some women and massages which was disgusting and we stopped talking to him.
In all in Suriname is a clash of cultures, but I wouldn’t rush back.
