I chose this hotel for it's proximity to the railway station, the view and, more importantly, the pictures of the hotel which made it appear to be a lovely old building containing a grand hotel. How wrong can a person be ?! Yes, it is an old building but unfortunately it is now far from lovely and no, it does NOT contain a grand hotel! The poor building is so very neglected and un-cared for; the exterior needs a total refurb as does the whole of the inside. The reception staff are curt and unhelpful to the point of being rude; the breakfast is hardly worth getting up for there being virtually no fresh fruit, no real meat and no real cheese; the bread was processed and not good. The rooms are so old fashioned and uncomfortable; the hair drier was rubbish; the towels like having a rub down with a piece of sand paper; we had a kettle but no cups, no tea, no coffee, no nothing! The corridors upstairs were cluttered with spare cots, mattresses, furniture, vacuum cleaners, linen, laundry; a bit like a car boot sale I suppose - full of stuff nobody wants!
Two good points; stunning view and minutes from the railway station. That's it!
Plenty of other accommodation in the area so take my advice and don't stay in the Central Continental!
