Kebeetulan saya menginap di sini dikarenakan harus menghadiri konferensi. dengan kata lainnya sih, semua akomodasi dibayar oleh kantor. Jika tidak, mana sanggup saya menginap di sini. Jangankan untuk 4 malam, 1 malampun saya tidak mau karena harganya yang mahal sekali. Tapi harga yang mahal sebanding dengan fasilitas yang didapat. Kamar yang aku tempati relative kecil, tapi kamar mandinya besar. Kemudian ada balkon yang menghadap ke danau sehingga pemandangannya indah. Hanya saja saya tidak terlalu menikmati balkon tersebut karena cuaca masih dingin sekali di Februari. Maklum, namanya juga orang dari Negara tropis :). Interior hotelnya sangat indah. Banyak lorong-lorong panjang yang mengingatkan pada lorong-lorong di dalam istana. Dekorasinya juga sangat menunjang. Breakfastnya sih OK. masih lebih lezat makanan yang disajikan oleh hotel-hotel bintang 5 di Indonesia karena di sini agak plain menurutku. Satu yang aku agak kecewa dengan servis hotel ini, yaitu soal bellboy. Ketika saya menginap di sini, kebetulan hotel sedang penuh dan banyak koper yang menumpuk dan menunggu untuk diantar ke kamar masing-masing. Ketika koper-koper itu sedang akan dipindahkan, entah ke luggage storage dahulu atau diantar langsung ke kamar hotel, bellboynya menendang koper-koper kami. Ketika kepergok oleh saya, dia langsung malu dan pergi. Benar-benar kecewa. Katanya servisnya sangat memuaskan. Ko ya bisa perlakuannya seperti menginap di losmen saja.

For a hotel that is, summa summarum, quite expensive, it just didn’t cut it. It’s quite old, the rooms are quite small and the SPA is outdated. At those prices it aims to compete with similar lake view hotels which it quite frankly fails to do. On a positive note, the staff is incredibly friendly which is why we can’t rate it as poor.

I came here for work. The hotel is centrally located just 4 minutes from the main train station and 2 minutes or less from the lake. The rooms are bright, spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the spa and swimming pool especially after work in the evening when it is not too busy and the outdoor pool is a great way to relax. The room service was excellent and accomodated all dietary needs. I would stay here again without hesitation.

This hotel and town are highly recommendable for travelers looking for some history and culture without missing out on modern luxury. We stayed in a superb suite with a perfect view of the lake in the 5th upper floor. Unfortunately not all of the restaurants and bars were open, due to the regulations of the present pandemic. We had dinner, cake, drinks and breakfast at the Fairmont and were highly satisfied. The concierge recommended a second excellent gourmet restaurant in Hotel Victoria for us to try on our second night, which was also excellent.

First, in the context of what you may reasonably expect from a 5* grand hotel, this review would deserve a 3 point rating. But we usually stay at the Montreux Palace when we visit the Montreux Jazz festival and love it with all it has to offer during the festival season. This time 'round we were on an extended holiday road trip through Switzerland due to the Covid19 situation and spent our last 3 days at the Montreux Palace (mind you, we always spend the greater part of our annual holidays in Switzerland, not just during this special year). After having visited other grand hotels of the same category over the past 3 months, we were somewhat disappointed at the Montreux Palace. I had noticed during past visits that the owners of the hotel obviously lack financial resources to give this place a full overhaul and renovation like other similar hotels have done. Examples of the hotel's bad state are the dated small walk-in shower in our lake view junior suite. The door didn't close properly, so the bathroom floor got all wet. The soap holder fell apart (we could put it back together). The shower head leaked and the corners of the shower base have collected dirt over the years. Or, another example, the handrails on the balcony or on the breakfast terrace were rusty and looked really run down. For the benefit of the hotel, I will not elaborate with further examples. We were told at check-in that there would be no turn-down service in the evening due to the Covid19 situation. We can live with that, but I asked if 4 towels instead of 2 could be placed in the room each morning. That request didn't work out! Also on day 2 of our stay, no fresh water bottles (the small ones that are usually put on your nightstand) were placed in the room. OK, we didn't pre-book the SPA because times are quiet and we were going to stay 3 nights at the hotel. On arrival, we went straight to the SPA reception to inquire about treatment appointments during the following two days. Unfortunately, there was only one time slot for 1 person at 6pm on one of the days which was too late in the day for us since we already had dinner plans. We were counting on getting at least one SPA treatment each on the last days of our two week travels. I know, we should have pre-booked, but then it appeared (not certain though) that the hotel must have laid off some staff during these quieter times. Dining options at the hotel were limited to the Montreux Jazz Cafe which we like for a quick bite at lunchtime, but not for dinner. So, we had to dine outside on all 3 evenings. Luckily, the concierge gave us some good recommendations and booked nice tables for us. As I said, 3 points deserved - 4 points given due to our past festival history with the hotel!
