Hotel Alpenblick

The quality of the restaurant is exceptional. We did not even tried any other restaurant in the region. We were waiting to taste another plate each night. Of course, this has a price: victim of its quality the time to serve was from 30 to 60 minutes. But worth it. The hotel room however was small for 4 persons, with however a nice balcony (we were at the annex) with super view of the mountains.

We were looking forward to have a nice and very delicious dinner and we sadly failed totally. The food quality wasn’t great except the ceviche which was very nice. I asked for tasting a white wine to make up my mind. This wasn’t really welcome. The wine was listed as served by the glass btw. The ordered wine arrived with the main course after two reminder and the 2nd glass never came. The waiter didn’t get my desert order and brought a lime sorbet with vodka instead of the ordered lemon sorbet with vodka. He neither apologised for the forgotten glass of wine nor for the wrong desert. The desert hasn’t even taken off the bill. Very unprofessional waiter in all kinds. Our todays experience wasn’t good. It would be a win for the restaurant to properly train the staff.

Came here for Xmas 2019 with a party of 20 from UK. We were made to feel so welcome, room was comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Had a great few days; enjoying Xmas.

Our room overlooked the car park. It was clean and probably refurbished recently (albeit a sheet fixed to the ceiling covered a large hole). It was fine for the little time we spent in it equipped with a reasonably new bathroom. It would have been better to have had tea/coffee making facilities. Very clean. The first two evenings were in the main restaurant the others upstairs . For vegetarians the food was extremely poor. One night was lettuce leaves and sweetcorn because they hadn't allowed for the right number of veggies. Another night- jacket potatoes with cheese. The worst disaster was the fondue night when 1 brussel sprout, a carrot and a single piece of cauliflower to cook in warm water. Rubbish!! Also the meat for the fondue was still frozen.The system for buffet meals was not thought out. This was breakfast and some evening meals upstairs on the first floor. The staff access to the kitchen was blocked by access to the coffee machine and breakfast cereal etc. The staff were 'reluctant' or instructed to be slow serving drinks. Why not leave wine carafes on the table? After all we paid for all inclusive. I would recommend the top floor (stairs only access) to reduce the noise from the rooms above on wooden floors.

We stayed here for 6 nights from 8-14 September on a Rail Discoveries holiday, this is their hotel of choice in the village. The hotel is a real mix of old and new. Rooms appear to be a bit varied and are split between the main building and an annex across the road. Some have balconies. We were in the main building on the top floor with a view from the front of the hotel. Room was fairly basic but more than reasonable for the time spent in it. Bed was comfy enough and the bathroom although fairly small was ok. The breakfast was a good continental offering with a fair number of choices. Being on a tour we did not eat in the a la carte restaurant which has a very good local reputation. Our evening meals were however overall ok and were varied and tasty. Hotel is a 10/15 min walk from the station which provides access to many of the local rail routes. A very good location to explore the Bern-Oberland area with its many stunning and beautiful locations. All the staff were very pleasant.
