We owe the owner a debt of gratitude for taking care of us like family.
I stayed at Hotel Bellevue Baren in May due to an unforeseen circumstance. My mother was staying at the hotel and needed immediate medical assistance. I rushed to fly into Zurich airport and drove for three hours in the middle of the night to get there. Throughout the whole time the owner kept in contact with me through WhatsApp and provided assurances.
When I arrived at midnight, the owner was standing at the front entrance waiting for me. Bear in mind that this is not a 4-star hotel with 24-hour reception. The owner stayed up himself to make sure I arrived safely and was properly accommodated for the night.
Earlier in the day and prior to my arrival, the owner sent a staff and his private car to take my mother to a nearby doctor's office, who determined she needed to go the nearest major hosptial, about 20 km away. At the instruction of the owner, the staff then drove my mother to the hospital for emergency care and kept her company throughout the whole time.
The next morning, before we departed, I offered to reimburse the owner for the cost of driving my mother to the hospital, as well my one-night stay at the hotel, he graciously declined the offer by saying "I like to help people."
My mother has since returned home and received proper medical care. We are forever grateful to the owner for his kindness and generosity in our time of need.
Although I only stayed for one night, I did have the chance to get a glimpse of the wonderful view of Thun lake from the balcony and the dining area. The hotel is not brand new, but it definitely has character and is well maintained.
I have traveled the world and experienced my share of hospitality services. Don't come here expecting 4-star facility. Come here to enjoy the great view/surrounding and off-the-chart hospitality!
