Unfortunately mask rules are not followed / reinforced at buffet restaurant. No signage, and no reminder from staff at all in the restaurant. Almost no others wear masks when collecting food. If the rules are not even followed, it sould be cancelled. 規定取餐帶口罩,卻沒有任何提醒,也沒看到有其他客人戴口罩,如果無法執行建議直接取消。另外進入飯店也沒有量體溫,令人擔心。

The resort is understaff - unable to accommodate request for train station pick up; activity card in the room is dated (old and expired). I had to search the internet to find the current calendar. The service overall is mediocre (only 2 maintenance workers ever smiled at us. Everyone else never acknowledged us even though the occupancy rate is very low. When we walked through the lobby to take pictures of the mascot, the people working at the lobby (3 of them) did not say one word or smile or nod! It is as if we were invisible. We stayed at the 2-bedroom villa and given the service experienced, would most likely not return or recommend anyone staying at the resort. This resort does not offer the customer service of high end resort or the friendly and warm service at a smaller establishment. The dinner at the Japanese restaurant on the second night of stay was the highlight of the trip. Given the cost, 1/5 rating seemed appropriate!

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, but was disappointed that the room description for my suite was inaccurate and misleading. I used a Marriott Suite Night Award to upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite, which is described as a "1 Bedroom Studio Suite, with Balcony." Instead of being a one bedroom or a suite, it's one relatively large room, with the bed in the middle of the room, and a sofa off to one side. It couldn't even accurately be referred to as a junior one-bedroom, as it's clearly a studio and not a suite. And my bedroom was garden level, so there was no balcony, as promised. Had I known it would not be a suite, I wouldn't have used my upgrade award on it. (The room was nice, but I had gotten a better room my previous stay without using an upgrade award. I had assumed the Honeymoon suite would be better, but the Ambassador suite is the best suite option, and the Deluxe suite is more of a junior one bedroom because there's a divider between the bed and the rest of the room. I complained to the manager about the misleading description, and he was sympathetic, but said Marriott marketing chose the description. I complained to Marriot and got no response (after the initial "we'll get back to you soon." The grounds are pretty. The elite guest happy hour offered a free drink and small snack (which was the same every day). The fitness room was small, but never crowded. The highlight for most is the Japanese-style (nude, segregated) hot spring onsen, which my wife greatly enjoyed, and was also large tub in the room. There's a nice cafe a short walk down the street (Happy More Brunch), but I didn't find much else in walking distance besides convenience stores and a local noodle shop). I also took a taxi to take a tour of the Kavalan distillery, after pre-arranging an English-speaking guide.

We visited the Seasonal Tastes restaurant for our Christmas dinner as they were offering a buffet dinner. The food was just okay and the first thing that was quite concerning was that children were touching all the deserts and staff did nothing about it. So after witnessing that our desert choices were significantly reduced to only a few choices. Then, you're limited to only 90 minutes to eat your meal. So, instead of enjoying a relaxed Christmas dinner we were constantly worried about the time. It seems that Westin Yilan are more interested in having a high turnover of restaurant patrons than actually providing an enjoyable experience for their customers. Is that Westin's motto now?! A totally unenjoyable and disappointing Christmas!

A very first westin i have ever tried in Taiwan. We travel with another family and we all enjoy the stay. It's a beautiful resort hotel that trying to make sure their customers enjoy the stay. Easy check in, friendly staff, good food ( breakfast and dinner), nice parking, beautiful room, comfortable bed and incredible activities that you can do whole day in the hotel. Kids love it. i love it too. If i really have to pick up something that could be better, maybe i would choose the the swimming tool. It is a bit too small for the size of the hotel but the shower room is good haha. I have already booked another westin ( tau yuan) right after this stay. Totally love it. I hope we will get the same experience there!
