Came on a teacher trip and stayed less than 24 hrs but we regardless slept well. Recommended for large groups. No bar. Very picturesque. Would come again, given I didn't pay so I really don't know if it is worth the value or not

I met up with a large group of friends and we were taking up a few large bungalows on the property for Songkran weekend. From the moment I arrived at the Villas, the staff went above and beyond their call of duty to accomodate me. I was picked up by shuttle service from the parking lot and dropped off and escorted with a large umbrella (since it was raining) to my room. Our 5 bedroom bungalow featured a huge living room, partial kitchen & dining area, and a deck. Bedrooms were furnished with 2 large & extremely comfortable beds. Bathrooms were constantly cleaned, toiletries & linens always replenished. Everything was tidy, and the staff always responded to our requests courteously. The breakfast & lunch buffet were a sight for sore eyes! The Thai offerings were plentiful and varied, and sit-down dinner was an overwhelming amount of fresh seafood. We were basically fed every 3 hours! We had a small conference room available to our group and enjoyed a theatrical performance & unlimited karaoke as well. The owner of the Villas actually joined us for the performance and she is just lovely, so helpful and so accomodating. The long stretch of beach in front of the villas is stunning and well kept with a wide array of activities. There was also a well-executed walk rally and every participant received a free T-shirt. Winners of the walk rally received various prizes from the resort. And now for the cons: The pool was extremely chlorinated and stung my eyes pretty badly. Another issue was, the water coming out of all the taps was very murky so I ended up using bottled water to brush my teeth. Those things aside, I enjoyed my stay immensely & I highly recommend Amornphant Villas in Rayong.

The correct spelling of the hotel name is Amornphan Villa, which I believe when translated to English means "Villa of the Mosquitoes". I stayed in this hotel for two nights with a group attending a training course. Here is an objective list of the good and the bad. The Good: - The staff was friendly - Internet access was provided free of charge in their computer room The Bad: - The guest rooms were swarming with mosquitoes. I asked the staff at the front desk to spray the room and they acknowledged this would be done. However, when I returned to the room I found it had not been sprayed and was still swarming with mosquitoes. Instead, the staff had hung a couple of electric devices from the door, which are meant to be plugged in and are supposed to eliminate mosquitoes. My wife and I spent 30 minutes before going to sleep that evening running around the bedroom trying to swat as many mosquitoes as we could kill. - The food menu is all Thai. There are no international selections at all, so you had better like Thai food or you are out of luck. The food tasted good for the most part, but I became sick shortly after the first meal and have been suffering from nausea and dysentery for a couple of days since. - The hotel does not provide soap for use in the public restroom. This concerned me and I wondered if the restaurant staff is provided with soap to wash their hands. This could explain the illness I contracted from eating the food. - The facilities are run down and in need of general repair. The hotel owners seemed to focus a lot of effort and cost to maintain the spirit house and shrines, but the rest of place was suffering from obvious neglect. Examples include broken ceiling fans, ceiling panels falling down, broken masonry work. - The beaches in the region are a disgrace as it seems the currents and tide deposit all the floating trash in the Gulf of Thailand on the shores there. To the hotel's credit, they do make an effort to clean the beach trash each day, but it is a losing battle. As soon as one walks past the beach area immediately in front of the hotel, you are confronted with unsightly trash littered all over the beach. - Evening entertainment for one of the tour groups staying at the hotel was extremely loud. A DJ played music for the group at maximum volume for several hours in an open area near some of the rooms, to the detriment of anyone else who was looking for a little peace and quiet. My wife and I had to wait hours for the music to stop before we could even think about retiring for the evening. - The room designs are hazardous due to steps that are difficult to see in dim light, and doorways that are designed for very short people. When trying to go to the toilet at night, I had to focus on watching my step to avoid a fall, and in the process banged my head on the top of the bathroom door frame, which was so low it struck me in the forehead. Summary: Unfortunately, the problems with this hotel far outnumbered any positive aspects and as a result, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
