I have been sent there by TIC in Bangkok. Rooms are very dirty, full of dust and with old furniture. We tried to stay out of the room as much as possible as I m allergic to dust and was sneezing the all time. The water from both the sink and the toilet was brown!!!!!! Also, it is close to a chicken slaughterhouse (you could see it from the window!). Two words: stay away!

Place is like a dungeon! Dark, dirty, falling apart, no wifi in the rooms, air-conditioning wasn't working! We opened our sliding door and it fell off the rail! The mattress had springs popping out the floor would of been more comfortable! None of the pictures look like the place! We did a 2 day 1 night trek with bmp which was very good but the hotel itself should be closed down!

So we left Bangkok on the night train heading  Chiang Mai. The night train does the job, meaning it's clean and actually you can manage to sleep a few hours during the evening. The overall trip will take you almost 12h. Through the way we had a more and less half a day stop at Ayuttayah. It completely worth it since you can visit some of the city's temples and in between you can rent a bicycle, enjoying the sight seeing while you move your legs.  Chiang Mai is an amazing city. It has several different ambients, from the Nimmanhaemin hipster neighborhood, where most of the expats are, to the old village and temples, where wat phan tao, wat chedi luang and  wat phra singh totally deserve your visit. You can also go to the outskirts of the city, in Doi Suthep Pui Park. For getting there you can rent a scooter and enjoy the view and nature in between. We also went to the "jungle" for two days and a night. The first day of hike is what I'll call hilarious. Besides the waterfall, there's not much to see and in terms of length/ exercise it's a joke. Than you sleep in a cottage in a tiny village. The experience is somehow fun and I didn't regret. The second day was better, both in terms of moving as well in which regards the nature scenario. We ended in an Elephant kind of resort. They call it sanctuary but that's not what it is. I loved to interact with those big and lovely animals, but they are there for displaying purposes, not for anything else. They seem to be well treated, but a sanctuary is not. In our camp nobody was allowed to rode them as that was our condition to go there. Chiang Rai: whatch out. It's a complete flop. All the way. First of all, you travel more and less 7/8h in a van all day. It's unbearable. Second, you stop in a ridiculous "hot spring" which was no more than two kind of open air jacuzzi's. Complete BS. Then you go to white temple. Personally, I didn't find it interesting since it's a contemporary kitsch building. After seeing so many amazing ancient Buddhist temples, seeing this in the middle of hundreds of Chinese people which can't allow you to move it's just too much. Then they take you to a "tribal village" where there is nothing to see. I mean, really nothing. Just some people trying to sell you Chinese memorabilia, nothing authentic or manufactured. Then to close a ridiculous day you'll be launched to a crappy boat to do the golden triangle. You see nothing special, with a guide that barely speaks English but shout very loud, and you end 30m in Laos in a dock to buy (again) fake Chinese memorabilia, tobacco among other junk. If you like yourself, don't do this. On the limit rent a boat by yourself and try to go deep on this absolute crap trip. We took B.M.P. travel agency, which by the way we got there fooled by a tuk tuk driver (they are payed to do this and you think you're heading to the Tourism Authority of Thailand). They were not terrible, although they romanticised a lot, they say you'll have a car with 8 people and 13 travelled with no space, they said it was a good price and of course you're overpaying it, they said our hotel at Chiang Mai was amazing and at the end it's a cheap and not so well cleaned place (The Small). Also: they will try to take more money from you as the trip goes further. They told us the long neck tribe was included, then they wanted 300 BAHT more for it and you have to pay for the boat trip on the golden triangle as well. It was only 30 BAHT, but it's something that never should happen since you already paid for everything.  So go to the Tourism Authority of Thailand and get your things directly there. You don't need a travel agency to trick you and take advantage from your money. You'll be better free since you can move according your own rhythm and not with people that are used to move like sheep.

Horrible place to stay. ‘WiFi isn’t working’ however after reading other reviews it hadn’t been working since may of this year. Rude and unhelpful staff. We were sold a ‘executive room’ but it was FAR from it, outdated, dirty and just not a nice place to stay. The ‘pool’ came up to shin height only and right next door is a chicken slaughter house where you can literally hear the chickens being killed. I wouldn’t even give it 1 star. Do NOT waste your time or money absolutely disgraceful.

Biggest scam ever. Don’t waste your time or money. Worst staff, so impolite and not helpful at all. They try to scam you into taking tours with the hostels, but they completely scam you with the price. Never going back there and do not recommand to my worst enemy.
