This is a tired, unkempt and not well managed facility that lost it's love and luster a long time ago. Most of the staff are nice but you can see from their faces that they don't love working here, and nothing is at a level you would expect from a resort of this price in Koh Kood. After spending nearly a week in the southern part of the island where we were spoiled with 4 and 5 star service (at the same or less price), coming to Captain Hook was a real let down. The location is nice and it's kind of cool that you have to take a boat to get there, but it's dark and secluded and the public spaces are less than "Zen-like" I don't recommend this property for couples looking for a romantic getaway but it is a good location for families with kids, especially Thai families, which management focuses its service efforts toward. Koh Kood is a great Island; I just wish we spent our last few nights in a more contemporary, well kept and clean resort. If you do go to Capt. Hook, make sure you rent a scooter and go see some of the amazing resorts in the southern part of the Island. Captain Hook would do well to hire secret shoppers to better understand its competition.
