Please look around before booking at Charming. There are many, many places that are more reasonably priced and have a better atmosphere.
The staff at charming was aloof, and basically said "yes, yes" with a smile whether they cared, misunderstood or both.
We had a rat, or some other critter(it was a rat), hissing, scratching and running wild in the walls. I did not get a good night sleep when I was there.
I was positively freaked out the first night. My mom almost lost it. We went up to the counter to try and change rooms and report the rat, but curiously there was a plastic sign that said 'closed' and no hotel attendant to be found anywhere.
Basically, if you have any issue with your room or anything related to the hotel you are SOL. The front counter closes at 9pm. You also cannot call after 9pm, no one will answer.
We told staff about the rat in the morning. 'Yeah, yeah(broad smile).' The rat kept us up the entire next night.
Not coincidentally, me thinks in hindsight, room A3 of the large scratching rat in the wall--The 'deluxe' room--is always the last room available on most of the travel sites.
Also, If we're being honest, the bathroom and breakfast(yuck... Did I really force myself to eat cold extra chewy sausage, ham and eggs and drink instant coffee every morning just to convince myself I was getting a decent deal?) suck for the price.
Anyway, pest problem never solved. That rat, I'm guessing, is right now still scratching away at the walls, trying unsuccessfully to get in. I imagine the front counter guys nodding their heads as if they're about to nod off, smiling broadly, 'Yeah, yeah, the rat is still there. Yeah.'
