A very good property indeed, value for money. The room was very spacious, clean and had what you would expect in a hotel/resort. The hotel has a great beach access to it so we spent most of our time there and didn’t visit other beaches :) the resort’s restaurant was decent, the staffs were very humble and sweet and always with smiles. The location itself was good and not too far from other touristic spots so was convenient. The only downside was that the restaurant closes for food at around 5pm but it was fine as there were other places you could go to within walking distance and plus there is a 7-11 and Family Mart just a 5 mins walk ( or less ). Will happily come back to stay again.

Having seen this property on a Samui YouTube LiveCam, we decided to give it a try despite the somewhat less than stellar reviews on TA. What a surprise! Whether it was management's recently refocusing its attention or just plain luck, our experience was near-idyllic. Crystal Bay is situated on a quiet inlet between the two major beaches on Samui and the beach is fine and white, the water clear down to the toes. There are just 2 or 3 properties on the bay, making it nearly private (especially during this low/post-Covid season.) One of the advantages to staying on an older property is that the gardens are mature and these were beautifully maintained as well. Both the maintenance and housekeeping staff were delightful - in contrast to the reception and restaurant staff who were somewhat sullen and seemed put-out by simple requests. No worries - lots of terrific restaurants are available within reasonable proximity... We wish the Yacht Club the best going forward, encouraging management to continue obvious efforts to welcome tourists back to a clean and service-oriented environment and to making their stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you!

Staying 4 days / 3 nights, our first day was at the tail end of one tropical cyclone so the beach in front of the hotel was littered with debris from the sea, however on our third day when the sun was up, the Hotel staff made a genuine effort to clean up the beach. We picked a beachfront villa (no.410) which is literally 200m from the sea, the room was spotless and clean, a bit dated decor but the location of the glazing in this villa allowed natural light to fill the room and looked stunning! There was big issue with our Shower (it wasn’t working), but we spoke to the manager, French Expat I believe, and in less than 30 mins he replaced the water pump and our shower was working! Pros: Beautiful resort, friendly and helpful staff especially the manager (I saw other people on TA post negative reviews about the staff, but this was absolutely not the case now), amazing beach especially after was cleaned up / Cons: don’t go to Samui during Raining season :-(

Pros: This hotel is in a great location. Silver beach is beautiful and, since we travelled during Covid-19, it was almost deserted. The sun loungers on the beach are ideally placed to enjoy what the location can offer. The room is spacious with a good hot shower. The breakfast is nice and comprehensive, if slightly expensive by Thai standards. Cons: We stayed in a Sea-View Villa and while the room is fine overall, it is a little tired and cleanliness really could be improved. We were told on arrival that our room would not be cleaned every day (with no explanation why). This wasn't too much of an issue but what we didn't realise was that water bottles, tea, coffee etc. would not be replaced every day either! There was a problem with ants in the room and they seemed to get into everything. We also had a cockroach in the shower on one day but, as this was not a 'cleaning' day, we had to remove it ourselves. Reception was only open between 9am-7pm which made checking out challenging. The staff at the desk were barely present and not very friendly when they were. The staff in the restaurant were lovely, but the food was hugely overpriced. There are much better restaurants just outside the resort.

We spent 5 nights at Crystal Bay and there were things we loved about it and things we thought could be given more effort. First, the positives. The resort is on a beautiful little beach. It's mostly quiet there so you don't have the big crowds and bars nearby. It's easy to wake up and walk along the 300 meter beach and have it mostly to yourself. The restaurant on site (or kind of part of the property) has wonderful food and they accommodate for vegans and vegetarians. This side of the beach is farther away from the road so you don't hear the traffic that you do at other resorts on the opposite end of the beach. It's easy to walk to the sandier side of the beach (the opposite side), as the side in front of the resort is a bit rocky once you get into the water. Now, how they could improve. It's just seems like the resort has a very low effort vibe to it. Our water pump in our room was filled with air and every time we turned the tap on, it sounded like a high-pitched squealing sound (like you hear when you turn on a scuba tank). Anyone who had that room before, or when the came in to clean it, was forced to hear it. The faucet spit our more air than water and I’ve never appreciated the sound of a normal faucet until after we left our room. It could have been fixed with some effort, but it seemed like they were satisfied with leaving it. Another thing that I found effortless is that during our 6 days/5 nights, they never once had anyone go out to the beach to clean it up. The resorts right next door had someone doing this every morning. Crystal Bay, however, has these beautiful trees that offer wonderful shade for people to sit under. These trees also drop lots of leaves. It seems like a no-brainer to have someone go out to the beach once every other day to rake and clean up any small trash and all the leaves that might collect there. Instead, nothing was done in a week of observation and it was noticeable when you saw less reputable resorts next door going out and putting in the effort to ensure their beach front was attended to every morning. In the end, I cannot recommend the beach enough. The location is amazing, away from all the concrete jungle that other Samui beaches are becoming. It’s very green and hilly in this area of the island, and you can get to a variety of restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive and not have to go into the busy part of town. The beach has huge rocks on either end and is framed by hills all around. It’s picturesque, for sure. Our favorite on Samui. Sand is also nice and soft. It has wonderful potential if they showed more effort and cared about the rooms and resort more. It seemed to me that they were satisfied with little effort, when by putting more effort into the grounds, service/friendliness at the front desk and some room upgrades, it could be a lot better. You get what you pay for, I guess. If you are looking for a good room, try the beachfront rooms. They have nice views from the patio and you can hear the ocean from your room. 101 was a nice room with a clear view of the ocean.
