Difficult to review. Depends on the person. If you like a slightly laid back almost Backpacker accommodation then this place rightly scores 'excellent'. If you are a bit particular looking for hotel style comforts then the reviews are completely misleading and the scoring should be below average. It is essentially a cafe frontage open to the road with two floors of accommodation accessed via a 30 meter narrow concrete path to the back of the hotel. No lift, and after a long journey carrying your bags to the 3rd floor can be the final straw. Room was small but clean and everything worked (a/c, plumbing etc). Bathroom was very cramped with the shower spraying almost directly onto the toilet in my room. Linen clean but old.
The breakfast was great. Good selection and freshly prepared. I had the banana pancake the first day and the pineapple pancake the next day. Truely they were the most delicious I have ever tasted. The coffee was fantastic too, fit for any top coffee shop in Europe (no disrespect meant to Thailand).
Appeared to be family run. The owner and his staff were delightful and very helpful.
I loved this place and would definitely stay here again, but heed my comments above if you are a bit fussy or have impaired mobility.
