Where do I begin? I was definitely yearning for a holiday when I saw the mid-year sale. Even I after I had booked, I would just go over the genuinely positive reviews and pictures of the hotel on TripAdvisor. So yes I had had high expectations. Like for many, all of my high expectations were met. For me, the resort was even more beautiful than the photos; once you were there, you were simply surrounded by beauty and serenity.
This was a special family trip for me and my parents and thanks to K.Ton who gave us the loveliest welcome (and spent his valuable time telling us about the history of the hotel and the IHG brand for which we are grateful), this was probably one of the most special, memorable and happiest trips we have had. We had a slightly tricky situation when checking in but K.Bella, K.Mini, and most of all, K.Ton, helped us resolved it in the most seamless and satisfactory manner. Even if it was just for three days and two nights, this felt like a proper holiday. We had booked one of the club terrace suites and the view from our room and balcony was simply magical. Beyond the tropical greenery, the view of Koh Lan and the beautiful blue sea would calm you with their amazing healing qualities. And then there’s the room itself - so much class! I’ve seen a lot of beautiful hotel rooms but this beats all of them. The design is impeccable, the beds are ginormous and soft, the high ceilings give a feeling of grandeur and the bath tub area is pure elegance thanks to the art deco style wall panelling - tres tres chic.
Beyond our beloved room were the pools, gardens and other common areas perfectly placed on the side of the Khao Phra Tamnak that make the IC Pattaya a tropical paradise. Like I said above, every way you turn once you are in the hotel you see things that are aesthetically pleasing. I particularly love the fauna and flora which are very well maintained and one of my favourite things about the visit was just swimming among the traveller’s palms, frangipanis, Hawaiian Hibiscus of various colours, and other wonderful tropical plants, with a view of the sea beyond the Infiniti restaurant. It’s not a place for swimming in the sea or if you want a nice long beach but for me the pools, the cascading gardens and the cascade itself with a view of the Bay of Thailand is more than enough.
After or in between dips in the pools, the club lounge is the perfect place to chill in an airy, spacious, air-conditioned stylish lounge with a view of the sea. Sipping tea and the other refreshing drinks they serve while staring out into the sea was also another thing I enjoyed immensely while I was there. They serve a generous amount of finger food during afternoon tea and evening cocktails. For those who love their free flow of alcohol, the evening cocktail session will be a delightful end of the day.
We didn’t dine at Infiniti this time (but will next time for sure) so the other place we had food was Elements which is one of the most beautiful places in this world you could have a lush breakfast. We were thinking of ordering breakfast to eat on our balcony but even if the view from the balcony was also gorgeous, the terrace of Elements had so much charm that we couldn’t resist choosing it as the only option for our breakfast venue.
Last but not least, as most of the reviews before me have affirmed, the service is second to none. Everyone, from the moment you get off your car to the pool staff are willing to help whether it be by helping you get a buggy to move around the resort if you are travelling with people with knee issues or whether it be keeping you hydrated when you are in the pool area. If you just want to be pampered and relax, take yourself to the IC Pattaya and book yourself one of the rooms with the club lounge access. Whether you are a Thai or Expat working in busy and hectic Bangkok, treat yourself to a weekend here to recharge or make WFH = Work From Hotel here even…
The only bad thing about this resort is that once you’re there, you just don’t want to leave and find yourself constantly asking when can you come back? It’s just two hours by car from busy Bangkok but it was such a heavenly escape that I had to reboot my system when I got back. Again, like many before me, you just can’t help but want to leave a good review after such a fantastic holiday. The IC Pattaya is definitely one of my all-time favourite hotels now.
