This was our 2nd visit to Koh Talu. We had an ok visit last year but I wasn’t really too keen on going back. However with family visiting, a bunch of kids, and not wanting to spend too much time organizing stuff we decided to go back - and am I glad we did. This time we spent 5 days/4 nights. Again I was a bit apprehensive as the food last time wasn’t that inspiring. However this time was completely different. We stayed in the smaller (and older) of the two resorts: Pearl Bay. Rooms are basic but fine Food was excellent. Homemade proper Thai food. But I. Short why Koh Talu:
a) really easy with kids. Everything is safe. Staff is attentive. Kayaks and paddle boards available for use at any time
b) snorkeling is good. While most of the coral died during a violent storm , there are plenty of fish, sea turtles, etc. can be reached either on the snorkeling tours or straight from the beach.
c) space is spread out. There is never too many people. Especially not after 2:30 pm when the day trippers leave.
d) the turtle conservation center while small is a great opportunity for kids to get close (but not too close) to the turtles.
And topping it all is the fact that we can drive down from Bangkok on weekends.
Will be back....
